The lamp is very easy to put in. There is only one way to do it.

  • candycocoas Sep 25, 2009

My first lamp blew. I got another lamp put it in..had a picture and sound for 2 minutes, than the picture was gone but the volume was not there the lamp blew again. All along the green light on the t.v.was on solid the red one kept flashing. I turned off the tv replaced the bulb and it will not turn or off,the lights still being the same. I do not have picture or volume. It is a Toshiba projection about 5 years old. Any info would be helpful.

Make sure that the lamp is put in place correctly. Ensure that the lamp cover is securely installed. Review your installation then reinstall.

You mean before you changed the lamp, there's no picture but the sound is good? What TV type, brand and model?

Do the ballast first. That should get the picture back. The main board controls everything else.

Why would lamp go bad after replacing chip?

Did you have to remove the lamp during the chip replacement? If so, did you physically touch the glass of the lamp with your skin? Oils from the skin can cause lamp failures due to hot spots that can form on the glass.

Hi:
Just because your lamp indicator is not on does not mean that its not time to replace the lamp. This light only comes on if the lamp shatters in its housing, but if the lamp is worn or faulty it will not light the lamp light just no picture symptoms replace your lamp first.

I have a 65" mitsubishi

Did you get the lamp or the lamp and enclosure? If you had just the lamp replace, the thing to remember that it could be the wrong lamp for this set, also it could be a cheap lamp that don't work as good in this set. I would just get the lamp and housing that is made for this set. Also if lamp is good then it could be bad ballast.

My RCA tv is only 1 year old and the screen only is light black after turning it on. It has volume but no picture and it will play DVD but still not picture.

Hello,

The problem is either the lamp is faulty or you have a bad t-com board.
Have the lamp checked and if it not faulty, then replace the t-com board of the television.

Take care

Power/Standby light blinks green then screen goes blank (off) for

I have a similar problem. Just found out a possible solution yesterday. I am waiting for my lamp but here's what you need to do if you have replaced your lamp. Go into self diagnostics mode: Switch of your TV via remote, you will see red standy by light. Now,on the remote press "Display"=>"Channel 5"=>"Volume Up"=>"Power Button". All these keys need to be pressed within 3 seconds. You will now enter the diagnostics mode. Press "Jump" on remote (bottom right) 3 times and then press "Channel 2" 9 times. The screen will display your current lamp hours used.

In order to reset your tv to factory settings and for the new bulb to work you must reset this timer or else your TV will assume you are still using the old bulb and will automatically kick in "over protection mode". So here's what you do once you do on the lamp hours display screen. Press the "Channel 3" button on the remote 3 times then "Mute" then "Press Enter" to reset the timer to zero. Your TV should now work as normal. And remember, whenever a part is replaced all factory settings must be reset to zero. To do this, follow "Display"=>"Channel 5"=>"Volume Up"=> "Power Up" to enter service mode. Finally, press "Channel 8" and then "Enter" to put the TV back to factory settings.

The above mentioned is usually performed by a service technician and they charge somewhere around $95 diagnostic fee. You just saved this charge. If you see flashing red lights count them when they flash in sequence. This is a code for the techs to tell them what is wrong. These flashing red lights sequentially flash from 0 to 10 times to identify a problem. Usually, when the bbulb goes bad the only thing that might need to be replaced would be a "lamp Driver" aka "Power Block Assembly" $116.25 online from Sony, or the ballast. Sometimes, if you do not have a video a Thermal FUse can go bad which only costs $4.80 for the KDF60-XS955 but the techs will charge you over $300. You can do this yourself if you can get your hands on a service manual.

Hope this info helps.

Good Luck to you all.

No picture and no sound after replace lamp for Mitsubishi WD-51525

did you use an original mitsbishi lamp. did it slide in easily? one of the most common problems with a lamp replaement is pushing the connector away from the lamp if it doesn't slide in easily. unplug the set, take out the lamp and look with a flashlight to see if the connector is in place. if so put the old lamp in and see if it works. if it does then your new one is bad. if it doesn't then email me
ima_rm2000@yahoo.com with your number and we can talk more.
