Question about Samsung SPN4235 42 in. Plasma HDTV

40" plasma with blown fuse

I have a 40" plasma TV that quit working. The fuse was a 5V ceramic but I have not been able to find one locally. I have tried to replace it with a regular (glass) 5V but it keeps shorting out. Do I have to use a ceramic? Any other suggestions as to what could be shorting out the fuse?

Sony pfm-42b1 plasma tv goes to a flashing standby light when turned on - any ideas / info would be greatly appreciated - thanks

How many blinks do you get ???? It put itself in protect mode so the TV thinks something is wrong.

2 blinks X sus circuit board temp is too high

3 blinks y sus circuit board temp is too high

4 blinks center temp is too high

5 blinks digital 5V circuit is messed up

6 blinks means the PDP Panel board has failed

If you feel you cannot fix it or its too much money I will buy the TV off you for a part that I need for my sony pfm-42b Please email me at and we can discuss this in more detail

Tv turned off while watching it and wont come back on, this has happened for a second time after having repaired it for the same thing 27 days ago, the tv is but 2 years old and has always been hooked up...

What was the previous problem and solution? is this a different problem than before?

Sounds to me like power isnt getting to the components.. at least to operational voltage where it will illuminate the pdp modual.(screen)

To fix this alot of troubleshooting is required because of the various things that can cause this.

Knowing plasma's pretty well , i am prone to blame this on heat. The lack of engineering prowess has flooded the market with disposable junk without any cooling whatsoever..i can heat a room with my plasma.

So lets see here.. power board could have blown a fuse, a peko hardwired fuse but this will cut all power to the rest of the set. Do you get sound? do you get a series of blinks from the tv's front panel? if so count them..its a error code... if you dont even get power pwb ( power supply) is dead.. either the secondary side or primary of the has 2 phases to it. primare and secondary.

if the tv doesnt even fire and its completely dead...pwb.

need to know what functions the tv can do right now.

Finding a ceramic fuse

You can buy them from a local TV parts dealer in your area. Sometimes a fuse adapter is clipped over a blown one and a mini glass fuse is installed over top of it.

I have a Hitachi, 42 in. plasma ultravision and this morning I could not turn the tv on. No power.

check the branch circuit of your convenience outlet..the circuit breaker may have tripped..try to connect other appliance to the outlet where your TV is connected..this is to ensure there's power in it..if you are certain then that there's indeed power from the outlet you are sure that the TV is not working..check TV fuse and replace if blown..check resistance between the plug terminals after fuse replacement..if resistance is low, change voltage dependent resistor (VDR) with same is a disk type resistor that looks like a big ceramic capacitor located just after the fuse..either blue, black or red.blown fuse may be due to power surge during the night..
