- have a galaxy dx-66 after awhile it will go nuts freq. will go up and down and recieve and transmit will dissappear sometimes a good smack will bring it back or after awhile it comes back to normal on its own i know its got to be a cold solder joint but i dont know where i,ve tryed everything and it still acts up- timspurSolution #1

If you know what you're crystals look like check the solder there.

You may have cold solder joints ( broken lead connection/s to the pc board) around the PLL chip area. Also you may have a switch that needs cleaned. To clean the switches, purchase some contact cleaner ( I use WD 40, although some techs don't recomend it ) and spray the switches and pots ( volume control, squelch etc )> Aviod getting any oil on the board. .
