SOURCE: Sirius satellite radio constantly shows "acquiring signal"

it could be the connection on the back of the reciever that could be bad. I would call sirius and see if your reciever is under warranty still, if not i can almost garauntee that your tuner antenna input is bad, if your antenna is brand new.

My sirius reciever in my boat worked fine until this year now it wont work antenna is only two years old and it is a high quality marine antenna could it be the reciever it is hooked to a clarion radio...

Oxidation from humidity could have tarnished a connector somewhere. Make sure all connectors are clean and shiny first. It could be that the receiver is bad. A stereo shop should be able to check that for you easily.

This is a very old radio, and your antenna could be shot too. Try another antenna first.

I have my cd changer (alpine) plugged into the input port via ai net cable and I have the output going to the alpine radio (cda 9886) via ai net cable. When I hit the source button everything comes up but...

One thing to verify is that the Ai-Net switch at the bottom of the radio is set to Norm and not the EQ position. And also gray Ai-Net connectors are for audio input and the black Ai-Net connectors are for audio output. It sounds like you have everything connected correctly and at least the Sirius is coming up. And I assume that the CD changer works when connected directly to the reciever so you know that it is working. I would suspect that there might be a problem with the Sirius reciever not allowing the communication signal to connect to the Alpine deck and in that case you would need to get a new reciever. You could check the Alpine radio settings and see if there is something that needs to be changed in order to allow the CD changer to work. If you disconnected the battery connection to the radio then it might have reset the settings to factory default. Otherwise it sounds to me like the problem is with the Sirius reciever.

Humax 5400 satellite receiver ,power suppl problem

Dear Robert...

I think the problem with my humax 5400z is similar to yours.

Both 5400 & 5400z have the same power supply unit.

I just solved it this evening by changing C9.

It's a 1500 μF 10V electrolytic capacitor. Be careful not to reverse the polarity my friend.

If you have problems to find the capacitor just e-mail me at and I'll send you pics showing the location of that C9 capacitor on tthe psu board.

Hope this could help you.

Good luck.

Ramez Lebbad.

The only "real" satellite tweak I could think of is to improve on your antenna system. I was made to understand that your country's FCC imposes certain restrictions and limitations as to how much power and capture area the system could use.

On improving the antenna, rule of thumb; the bigger the better and this apply to the dish. The bigger the capture area (dish diameter) the better the signal quality (not only strength). Of course doing so would probably need the blessings of your ISP. Possible sources of replacement parabolic dish would be discards of cable companies. The next hurdle would be aligning and finding the optimum mounting point of the horns. This photo might give you an idea on size difference.

BTW, the paint (white coating) is more for aesthetic purposes and helps protect it from the elements. Flaking/wearing off should not cause concern in terms of its performance.

Depending on how your modem is connected to the PC (USB or Ethernet), the other tweaks would really be with your PC's hardware settings and your OS configurations.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back whether USB or Ethernet and/or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Satalite radio reciver

You would have to be more specific, are you refering to the satellite signal ? is this a new install or was the dish already alinged and your updating your reciever ? If your updating your multiswitch wont work with the new HD LNB's and Recievers.
