Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I have a Dell Latitude D600 that I bought as a refurbished machine.
A year and a half ago, my RAM started messing up. I discovered that one of the bays would not work correctly, but that the computer would work fine with the other bay. So I switched that bay from 256k to 1MB of ram and the computer worked fine for a while.
About a year ago, I was forced to replace the hard drive after it went belly up. The new one gets much hotter.
And recently, a larger problem. The computer will often not start. There are 2 light codes that come up.
Typically, the caps lock and scroll lock come on solid for about 5 seconds.
Ocassionally the num lock and scroll lock flash a few times.
I believe this is a RAM issue, becuase when I remove and reseat the RAM it helps for a time or two, but often I have to put pressure on the RAM bay to get the computer to start up.
What solutions do you have for me? Its getting to the point where I am ready to buy a new one, because I have sunk enough money into upgrading this one (and there are still other problems).
I had the same problem as you with two of these D600's. I'm pretty sure it's not a RAM issue, more likely a problem with the motherboard. I reckon it's time for you to get a new one .. i did!
