Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player

Creative Zen V Plus will not charge using an adapter

I can recharge my Zen using the USB port on the computer. But, when I hook up my Creative Zen to an adapter and plug into the wall, the Zen will open up and start playing, using up existing battery power. It will not shut off to recharge the unit. Every time I try to shut it off, it will start back up (playing) automatically. Eventually the battery depletes, and I have to plug into the computer (USB port) to charge it back up.

Install the software included with the Creative Zen V Plus. Many problems with the MP3 player can be resolved by installing or updating the software included with the device. Use the CD that came with the player to make the install, or log on the Creative Zen V Plus product page on the company website to download the latest firmware:

If you have a multimeter/Volatage meter, just check the output voltage of the adapter. I think your adapter is defective.

This should solve your problem.Best of Luck. Please rank me appropriately. If you want any clarification, Please get back to me

In the knowledge base solutions Creative gives next answer, when the player does not power on or charge:

>>>>>
To resolve this problem, establish that the player is charging correctly as follows:
  1. Connect the player to a USB port on the back of a desktop PC, to a powered hub, or to a power adapter ( You can purchase the power adapter here as a separate accessory).

  2. Press the reset button and observe the player.

  3. Check the display for the charging icon battery_ac_charge_1.jpg.
    • As the display times out after a few seconds, press any button on the player to reactivate the display.

    • If the battery is fully depleted, the charging icon may not be displayed. Cup the player in your hands to check that the blue power LED behind the Play/Pause and Options buttons is glowing on and off repeatedly. This indicates that the player is successfully charging. After 1 hour of charging, power on the unit to activate the display. The charging icon should be displayed.

  4. Allow the player to charge for at least 6 hours. During this time, if charging from a USB port, please ensure your PC does not enter a power conservation mode (Standby, Sleep, or Hibernate) as this will interrupt charging.
Creative recommends updating your ZEN V or ZEN V Plus firmware to take advantage of new features and functionality. To learn more, visit SID 29048 in our "Further Suggestions".
Note: If the player does not indicate a charge, or will not power on after at least 6 hours of charging, please contact Customer Support.

Creative Zen MP3 won't charge with mains adaptor

Don't worry that doesn't mean that your mp3 player is faulty, if there is any fault it is from the charger but since the usb charges it well, just continue to use it. It doesn't mean the player is faulty, IT HAPPENS.

Zen Touch

Plug the Zen into a self powered USB hub that is not connected to a PC and leave overnight. You may also use other devices such as a printer USB port etc.

It recharges very slowly over USB but it will recharge.

it may be in a low power state, try a different usb cable and hook it up to a desktop computer (laptop ports are sometimes not powerful enough to charge the battery when it is in a low-power state).
