Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router
Linksys routers have a web interface. plug the router in, use a network patch cord to connect the PC to the router. (don't put it in the Internet port) pick the 1 of 4/8 other ports depending on the router. the router should hand out an IP address. get to a command prompt (XP click on start then run then type cmd) VISTA in the search area type cmd
This will get you a command prompt. at the prompt type ipconfig
you should get something that reads like:
IP ADDRESS 192.168.0.2
SUBNET MASK 255.255.255.0
The numbers may not match, but the key is to write down the gateway number. the "."'s are important. So write down the number as displayed. Type the word EXIT to close the command prompt window.
Then open Internet explorer (or which ever browser you are using and type in the address line http://192.168.0.1 (if that isn't the gateway number replace the numbers with what displays as the gateway. This will bring up the Web interface for the router. Linksys user name and passord defaults are admin and admin.
If that doesn't work, then the router has been previosly configured, and you'll need to reset it. to do so, there is a little reset button on the back.use a pencil or a non conductive object to press the button in. hold it un and watch the lights on the front, they will all light up, and the power light will blink. when that happens, release the button. Then unplug the power to reset the device, and plug it back in. Follow the steps at the beginning of this solution, and you should be good to go.

I believe you are using a Linksys router.
You can install it manually but there are things that you need to consider.
1. Your dsl provider. Because some modems like if your modem came from AT&T (Bellsouth) the modem needs to be set to a bridge mode.
Note: You can check with the tech support of your dsl provider if this has to be done.
2. If you are using a PPPoE connection on the modem. Meaning you know your UN and Password. Here is a document on the internet that you can check on. It has a step by step process on how to install the router manually.
The steps are to long that is why I gave you the link. And so that you can save it to your computer or print it out for you to have a copy.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Start, Run, type cmd and enter. Type ipconfig and enter. If you have the ethernet cords plugged into the correct ports you will get a gateway ip address which you will type into your browser address bar and then you should be able to manually configure your router given your connection and service type. Hope this helps

Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.
