Replacement AC Power Adapter Not Charging Battery

After replacing the power adapter for my laptop with an adapter from BatteryEdge.com, the Startup will go to a screen claiming the adapter cannot be determined, and it will affect performance. While the adapter does work for AC, it will not charge the battery. The adapter is a universal.

Its not an adapter problem. its not a battery problem as well.
Here is what you can try to solve it.

1. we need to update the BIOS of the cmputer/ for that. go to the website. support.dell.com and then click on drivers and downloads. click on enter the service tag. and then enter your computer service tag and then it will take you to the downlaod page and then you would see a downlaod for BIOS. downlaod it and install it. 60% it will fix the problem.
Note:- the battery charge must be 10% in order to continue. else it wont work.

2nd thing. the port where you connect the adapter to the computer which can be called as a mother board that has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
and replacing the motherboard is not economical it a very costly item. so you might need to think of purchasing another laptop.

3. if you even donot want to buy another laptop. call dell if you are in warranty they will replace the motherboard else they will connect you to Out of warranty repairs and they will fix it. its a hardware problem and it is a costly item. be aware.

i can understand its sad, but if this information was helpful please rate this solution.

AC adapter 4750z

The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:

1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.

2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.

3.) Your battery is faulty.

I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.

If you need to buy a new laptop charger, the following to adapters are for your reference:

Is there a software that is associated with my sonny battery that will make it charge again

Hi there,

If you plug in your AC adapter to your laptop to charge the battery and get the "plugged in, not charging" message then try the following solution:

  • Disconnect AC adapter
  • Shutdown laptop
  • Remove laptop battery
  • Connect AC adapter
  • Power on laptop
  • Click the Startup Menu
  • Type Device and select Device Manager
  • Under the Batteries category, right-click Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall.
  • Shutdown laptop
  • Disconnect AC adapter
  • Insert laptop battery
  • Connect AC adapter
  • Power on laptop

If you follow these steps and find that your laptop still does not charge then consider replacing the laptop battery itself.

Hope to have been of assistance,
    Thanks.

When connected to AC adapter the amber light for battery doesnt change to blue even after full charge.

    Hello.

The most common reasons are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty. If the battery indicator flashes amber or is a steady amber, the
battery will probably needs to be replaced, since it's not charging fully.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

    Hope this helps.

    Not charging

    Hello,

1.Check the power outlet if it's working.
2.Try to also change the power cord with good one. If it works then the problem is the power cord.
3.Try to use a good know ac adapter to check if the only problem is the ac adapter. If it works then the problem is the ac adapter. If your still in warranty, you can go to this website to get a replacement ac adapter acclaim.toshiba.com or go to toshibadirect.com to order replacement for non-warranty.
4.If could borrow a battery that has same specs and size of your battery , you may put that on your laptop and try if the laptop will power ON. If the laptop won't turn ON, meaning there is a system board problem, if it turns ON the only problem is the ac adapter.

If your still under warranty, you may contact Toshiba, you may send it at no cost.

My Acer aspire 4935 is not recognizing the AC adapter. When ever I shutdown the system and connects the AC adapter, it works and the charging LED lights up. Once I press the power button to boot the...

Problem description:The battery charges only when the laptop turned off. The battery charge LED lights up as normal and the battery gets charged to 100% while the laptop is off.
When the laptop is turned on, the battery charge LED goes off even if the adapter is still plugged in.
Possible cause:1. AC power adapter failure.
    2. Battery failure.
    3. Broken/loose power jack.
    4. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:1. This problem could be related to a faulty AC power adapter. It's possible that the AC adapter doesn't provide enough power when plugged into the laptop. To find out if this is your problem, you'll have to test the laptop with another working adapter.Replace the adapter if needed.

    2. There is a slight chance that you have bad battery. Test the laptop with a know good battery and replace the faulty one if needed.

    3. The battery charge problem could be related to the power jack. Maybe the jack is broken or not making good contact with the motherboard. It is necessary to remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. Resolder or replace the jack if needed.

    4. If the power jack is in a good working shape and new power adapter with battery do not fix the problem, most likely you have a faulty motherboard. Replace the motherboard if needed.

    Laptop battery is not charging

Hi, this information represents a basic troubleshooting guideline. Refer to your user guide for specific charging and connection instructions. Manuals may be available online in the Support Web site of HP.

Remove the battery from the computer.
Confirm the battery contacts are free of any foreign material that may prevent charging.
Reinsert the battery into the computer.
Verify that the AC adapter cord is properly connected and plugged directly into a known working AC power outlet.

NOTE: If the battery charges correctly when the AC adapter is plugged directly into an AC power outlet, but not when plugged into a power strip or surge protector, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the computer battery or AC adapter.

Verify the correct AC adapter is being used.
Ensure the AC adapter box power light is on. This will be an illuminated green light.
If the AC adapter power light is not on, the AC adapter and power cord will need to be replaced.
Verify the charging indicator is illuminated on the computer.
If the issue still exists, install a different compatible HP battery, if available.

NOTE: If a replacement battery charges and operates correctly, the problem is with the first battery.

If neither the original nor a replacement battery charges, service may be required for the computer.

Brand new battery & ac adapter not working on MX3702

If you've replaced both the battery and the ac adapter then the fault lies in the charging circuit of the motherboard and generally that is either a motherboard replacement or having the power connection on the motherboard by a service center, either way usually about $100

    which green light?

light from the ac power adapter or the light from the battery?

if ac power adapter you are referring to try a diff power wall socket if ac power adapter still off then replace ac power adapter alone.

if battery light is off but the laptop works fine with ac adapter alone try updating the laptop BIOS.

if ac adapter light turns off when it plug to the laptop replace motherboard.
