Re: Hoover Fusion Cyclonic

Ok, lfitz, I fixed my problem. First I called the Sears Service Center. They told me that I would have to drop it off there, and they would send it to Orlando to get looked at. The whole process would take about 2 weeks and who knows how much money. So I decided to become my own Hoover technician. It turns out that my original diagnosis was right about the chord that electrically connects the power on/off switch at the top of the handle to the rest of the vacuum. This was extremely easy to fix so please don't be scared away, although it does require a little philips-head screwdriver action. As always, make sure the vacuum is unplugged before you start. On the back of the vacuum, there is the hook that you wrap the electrical chord around for storage (the top one). On either side of that hook are two screws. Unscrew those. Now, the small piece of plastic that has the hook on it can be carefully pulled back, or removed if you need to. Inside, I found the detached end of a coiled black electrical chord that looks kind of like an A/C adapter. This chord should be plugged into the bottom of the metal shaft that slides in and out to allow you to adjust the height of the handle. Now, adjust the metal shaft so that you can plug the black chord back into the base. Push the chord in until you hear it click. Now, put the plastic piece back in place and put the screws back in and you're done. Plug it in and give it a try. I hope this helps.

Re: Hoover Fusion Cyclonic

If you are mechanically inclined, you can disassemble the vacuum and turn it on, and carefully connect a voltmeter to the two wire leads going into the motor. If you get a standard 120 volt reading, your motor is shot, and will have to be replaced. Or if lucky, you might find a disconnected lead that can simply be re-soldered ( this happened to me once). Note that the Hoover Fusion motor has several design flaws and will eventually fail as a result of these flaws. Probably better to just purchase a new vacuum if the motor is shot.

Just bought this Hoover Fusion vaccum used, cleaned it up, checked belt and filter, turned it on and is extremely loud, almost like a scream. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix?

Loud noises from this model are caused by dirt build up on the suction fan mounted directly to the motor. Under the dirt cup there is a filter screen that should have a foam filter insert, when not used or cleaned properly allows dirt to get into the motor. Cleaning is the best option. Although if you are inclined, you can take it apart or take it to your local deaLer.

Is my model nno. US183900 S/N 080600079068 still under warranty? I have a broken hinge post in the bottom cover of the dirt canister. Thank you.

The Hoover Fusion Plus Cyclonic Upright Vacuum has a 1 year manufacturers warranty from date of purchase. You need to check your reciept to see if it's under a year old. Then go to the web site to find the closest Hoover warranty service center to where you live. Bring the proof of purchase and the vacuum to them.

My fusion just stopped. i was vaccuuming and it

One item to check is this: This unit has a temperature overheat device.
Unplug the unit for 20 minutes, then plug in and turn on the switch. If there was a blockage in the hose/cup/filters, this could cause the overheating.

If this does not resolve the problem, it will need disassembled and checked with a continuity meter to determine the component that failed (motor, switch, cord, or TCO)

Hoover Cyclonic Fusion Vacuum overheats and shuts off.

If it gets too hot it will shut down for about an does that to protect the motor. A lot of tools and work appliances seem to have that feature nowadays.

While I'm having a different problem, the problem you guys are experiencing can easily be fixed by cleaning the two internal filters. My vacuum did the same thing, just stopped running mid-stream. Remove the main filter cup. Look inside the cavity of the vacuum and you'll see a grey bar at the bottom of the cavity, pull this up and you'll find the first of two washable filters. Just rinse it under warm water squeezing as you rinse until the water runs clear. The roll the filter in a few paper towels or towel and unroll, reroll until completely dry - should only take a few minutes. Then, look in the same cavity except up top there is another filter which seems to be hidden. The back wall of the inside cavity will guide you to these filters as well. You will be amazed by the difference cleaning these will make in the suction power of your vacuum. Also, if you remove the belt cover and clean out the hose in this area it will improve suction as well. Hope this helps. Now, if I could just get the darn belt back on mine. First belt smoked and popped. Bought replacement belt, smoked and popped within seconds... HELP!!!
