How do I replace the frame for the door? Is it possible to remove the glass from the damaged door and replace it in a new frame? The frame is much cheaper to buy than the whole door.

Actually it is more realistic buying the door and glass complete. Price difference is not excessive. Removing plastic d/layer "glass" dissrupts the seal and small nitty gritty items break. Must be 100%good seal for microwave action.

How to replace inner glass panel on Neff H7871 microwave

Hi Bill, I am having a same problem I have managed to order the glass from:-

http://www.4neff.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=876912&query=Neff%20H7871N1GB%2f01&model=H7871N1GB&path=127858

1. Open the door.

2. Take out the 2 screws just behind the handle, on the inside of the door, the door should flop down at the handle end.

3. Hold the door handle and pull the door out. It is only housed in by a slip in hooks at the bottom end.

4. Once you remove the door you will see the inner metal mesh and the inner door behind it.

5. Remove the 16 screws holding the inner glass with a special star type screw driver bit no T30.

6. Once you done that the glass housing holding the inner glass can be carefully prised free and taken off the inner door assembley.

7. Once you done that remove and inner glass, and be carefull to leave the glass glass seal intact, clean around the frame housing and the seal then replace the new inner glass and reverse the process.

PS. Becareful of the inner door once you've removed the outer door, as the hinges holding the inner door tend to shut quickly as there is less weight on the hinges.

It will do the job if you follow these instructions.Good Luck. AL

How do i remove a out door frame of a GE profile spacemaker 1800?

If you are referring to the disassembly and replacement of the door, just follow these steps:

1. On MOST microwave ovens, all you have to do is remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The panel is pressed in place and can be removed by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel to release the clips that hold it in place so you can pry the plastic up. Work your way slowly around the perimeter of the glass to pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that shields you from harmful RF radiation.

2. With the inner panel removed, locate the door handle screws and remove with a screwdriver.

3. The panel glass should be "sandwiched" in place (double layer on most ovens) and should either lift out, or have retaining clips holding in place. Remove and set aside.

4. The remaining piece(s) comprise the door frame. Replace as necessary.

REASSEMBLY: Re-insert the panel glass, followed by the inner door panel, gradually working your way around the perimeter of the door glass to ensure it snaps back into place and seats properly.

NOTE: This repair should be done with the door REMOVED from the oven for easier access. To remove the door, open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door will lift off of the hinge pins. On some microwaves, you may have to remove the upper grill cover over the door (if equipped) to accommodate door removal. Place on a hard flat surface with some towels under it for padding. This protects the door facing from scatches.

NOTE: Some doors have a hinge pin that needs to be removed, or screws holding the door in place at the hinge.

There are several parts sources available that you can use to purchase replacement parts:

pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com

The first three sites on the list also offer helpful exploded view parts listings to aid in parts identification and location. My over the oven model 665.61629100 kenmore has cracked door

The outer door frame CAN be replaced if you like. You can view an exploded view diagram at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and locate item 10 under the "Door" parts listing. The part comes in various colors so make sure you select the correct one.

The door can be easily removed by opening it all the way and lifting straight up at the hinges. The door will come off the hinge pins and can be laid on a flat surface for easier access. Place a layer of towels under the door to prevent damage to the door.

You will need to remove the door handle to get the outer door frame off. To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you may need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Remove the door handle and and locate any screws that may be securing the outer door (front) frame in place. Once you install the new outer door frame, re-install the door handle and carefully re-insert the inner door panel. Gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

To answer your initial question, the microwave should continue to be safe to use as long as the inner door seal and door glass are intact. Make absolutely sure you reinstall the door components back together properly. Not doing so will render the oven unsafe to use. Refer to the web site I provided as a reference for how the door components go back together.

NOTE: This part is listed a bit cheaper at appliancepartspros.com. Use the part number from the first website I mentioned as your search criteria.

How to change the handle

To access the door handle mounting screws, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to simply pry the plastic up and work your way gradually around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

GE JVM1650BB005

You can search under Repair Parts and enter your full model number JVM1650BB005 and get an exploded view diagram here: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/ That diagram can be a great help. Also, I've attached below a door panel diagram from a Sharp model. Your GE disassembly may work the same way. If you haven't already taken the door off the microwave, I would recommend you don't unless you leave the hinge assembly attached to the door and remove the door from the hinges. It's critical to be sure you get (or keep) the door and hinged aligned exactly as they were to prevent leakage.
