SOLUTION 1

- Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive.
- Then restart your computer.
- Set your computer to boot from DVD or CD in your BIOS.

Vista will ask you for language and keyboard layout information, after which you will be asked if you want to re-install Vista or repair your existing installation.
Select Repair. After which Vista's System Recovery Tool will start.

Select Startup Repair and let Vista do its thing! That really is all there is to it!

If that doesn't work try this:

SOLUTION 2

If the previous method does not resolve the problem, you can rebuild the BCD store by using the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment. To do this, follow these steps:

- Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive.
- Then restart your computer.
- Press a key when you are prompted.
- Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next
- Click Repair your computer
- Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next
- In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt
- Type bootrec /rebuildbcd and then press ENTER

• If Bootrec runs successfully, it will present you with the installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes . A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.

• If Bootrec cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order shown below: (Remember to press ENTER after each command)

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /rebuildbcd

- Restart the computer.

Boot Manager is the starter of Windows. If that has got corrupted or is missing, then reinstall Windows. If you had made recovery CDs then you can use them to repair Windows with them. Start the re-installation process and you will get an option to repair it. If that does not work then carry on with complete re-install.

How to restart system and backup whith factory restore when on my acer aspire 5552 laptop screen is that message ?bootmgr is compreseed press ctr+alt+del to restart after that nothing happend i have tried...

First, calm down and grab a glass of water / wine / scotch / whatever is your thing
Second:

Are you trying to use a cd / dvd to restore? If so, you usually have to press f8 in order to bring up the boot menu right after you see the bios messages. Choose cd / dvd to boot and follow instructions.

If the recover is stores in a partition on your hard drive, look at the post boot msg, it is usually f10, or f11, or delete, or tab, that you have to press to bring up the recovery menu. It is almost never the case where you have to press multiple buttons for the menu to come up. If you miss the post boot message (it moves on to the windows logo or whatever) don't worry just restart and try to see it again.

PREINST6.SWM missing; PREINST9.SWM missing; Error:10-FC06-0002

Means pre-installion is missing. Which means yoou either have to Reinstall a fresh copy of your windows or your can reinstall your windows by just repairing the files. Its always good to make a recovery disk after every install. If you haven't tried it already restart your pc press f8 as the scene pops up and go to Last good configuration.

The fact that you have an error of missing file whit the restore DVD indicate that the problem could be hardware. Especially if you already did a restore whit the same DVD.

I would suggest that you have a faulty memory issue (RAM), you can run a memory diagnostic whit memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/ download the bootable cd and run it if you see RED readings your memory is defective if not let it run for a couple of loops to make sure.
I'm pretty shure you will see red results, if so take it to your local computer specialist to get it replace or order yourself some.
