Remotes not working

Our console is not registering either one of the remotes. I have tried to sync both remotes and nothing is happening. I can't turn them on. The blue LED lights will blink, but then nothing happens after that. Both remotes were working, and when I tried to play Guitar Hero, the second one wouldn't work. Then the other one quit working. I have tried to change batteries, but that doesn't do anything. I don't know what to do now.

Have the same problem. Our Wii is not registering either of our remotes. Tried new batteries, syncing, unplugging, everything, nothing seems to work. Wii isn't even two months old. Please help!

My console seems to be working, but the remote will not work. I have changed batteries, bought a new remote, tried unplugging everything and nothing happens. What else can i do?

Have you tried syncing the remotes? Open the SD cover slot on the front of the system you will see a red sync button. Then remove the battery cover to the remote and you should also see a red button. Turn on the Wii and then press the red button on the system. Then press the red button on the controller and see if that works.

Remotes wont work light up but wont stay on ,hit

The red button, is a sync button and not a reset button. You can try resyncing your wii remotes to your wii follow these steps:

  1. Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.

  2. Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console. Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote you wish to sync up.

  3. Press and release the SYNC button on the inside of the SD Card compartment on the console. Press and release the SYNC button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote.

  4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
You must have batteries in when pressing the red sync button on the wii remote, if your using the wii remote charger system, you must remove it and use batteries until this step is done

Hope this helps. Owen

When I turn on WII it says ''press A to continue''ut nothing happens. I have changed the batteries in the remotes but they do not respond. I have checked the sensor is plugged in.

If you have more than one remote, you may have to "sync" the remotes to your Wii system.
1. Open the battery cover on your remote and press the red "SYNC" button. The lights on the remote should begin flashing.
2. Open the cover on SD Card slot on the console and press the "SYNC" button.
3. The lights on the remote should stop flashing after a few seconds. Your remote is now ready for use.
This process must be repeated for each new remote.

Mario cart will not recognize my second remote.

Another possibility is that the original poster did not push the "+" button on the main remote when on the screen in Mario Kart to register additional remotes.

This happened to me. I was holding down the 1 and 2 buttons over and over on the second remote, watching the blue lights flash, but the remote wouldn't register. Eventually someone noticed the instructions on the screen to push the "+" button. When you push the "+" button, another screen appears to let you really register additional remotes.

In Wii Sports, there is no pushing of the "+" button to register new remotes... I had incorrectly assumed it worked the same way in Mario Kart and didn't bother reading the on-screen instructions.
