Question about Garmin nuvi 765T GPS Receiver
Plug it in to the computer (usb) for a few hours then try and start it. slide and hold power button for up to 15 seconds till it start.
if that fails, if that fails, unplug the nuvi and turn it off, then press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen, keep holding/touching lower right screen then power unit on while still holding the lower right of screen until you see the message " Do you really want to erase all user data?" let off power button and remove your finger from the screen and select YES. (this will erase all your saved data) this should reset your nuvi to the factory settings.
use the web updater to update your nuvi once you get it started again.
you can get it HERE
let me know if you need further help.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

I had same problem. I called Garmin customer service who connected me to a computer rep. Garmin hooks with your computer that you have your Garmin plugged into. They can upload the proper software in no time at all.
The rep told me that after I updated my Garmin I might have turned off the unit before it completed updating the new software. You need to wait until the screen with "Where to?" appears.
It works great now. Prepare to wait on hold for a while. I waited just over an hour on Monday, their busiest day.

I can't give you a source of the problem but I can give you at least a temporary solution. Turn the unit on without the cord attached. After it comes up, press on the battery button for 10 seconds until the diagnostic screen comes up. Plug the cord in and press Exit and the unit should work while it charges. You will not be able to use it with the computer using this method, however. To do that you need to plug it in while either without powering it on or after it is powered up normally.

Download the Garmin Communicator Plugin and Web Updater software from Garmin's website - both tools are free and will load the proper USB drivers for your 765T.
Ensure that the battery is fully charged via the battery strength icon, prior to aquiring satellites.
To reset the 765T: Hold finger or thumb on lower right hand corner of screen while powering the unit on from the off position. This will erase all user data.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of easy user troubleshooting for Garmin units. I will note that the AC adapter that plugs in the USB port will give the unit more power than a USB connection to a computer or the 12vDC car adapter. If you've tried connecting it to the AC adapter and it still won't come on, it is possible the internal battery has gone bad and is consuming more power than the supply can produce to both charge and power up the unit. You can try leaving it plugged into the AC adapter for an hour or so and then trying to power it up with the AC adapter plugged in.
Let me know what you've done so far to troubleshoot and I'll research some more for you.
