Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer
Pull the toner cartridge out of the printer. When you pull it out the cartridge is connected to a case (called the drum). The drum has on it a purple slider that is used to clean off the cartridge. I have personally had problems when I leave the slider in the middle, and get the same results as described. If the slider is not the issue then pull the cartridge out of the drum and clean off the excess toner. This should solve the problem.

The ink where it come out maybe dirty as it usually does when changing
go to the print operation and run a clean up system and see if the colours come up ok
this method may use a bit of your ink but if in business needs this has to be done and proves ok
if problem persists , than take the toner out and with a bit of alcohol wipe and a dry wioe afterwards, clean the outlet
