Kurt, If you are handy and can dissemble and solder, you can do this yourself, otherwise, you can send it off to a repair service that will do this for you.

If you wish to do this yourself, you'll have to take the shaver apart. There are two (2) small plastic caps on the bottom of the shaver that can be removed with a small pick or flatbladed screwdriver. Once those are out, you can unscrew the two screws that hold the shaver together and gently pry off the side panels. They have to be slid slightly down to release them from the main housing frame.

This will expose the internal circuit board and the rechargable batteries that need to be unsolded. You can then reinstall NEW rechargable batteries and solder them onto the PCB (printed circuit board). You can also purchase a complete internal PCB with the batteries and everything you need, you just swap out the electronics for the new one, although this costs about $39, while the batteries alone are much less.

Put the shell together and reinstall the retaining screws and caps and you're done. Let the shaver get a full charge before you start using it again, and it might take a couple of use and discharge cycles before the batteries will be able to take an optimal charge.

Here's a link to get the replacement batteries for your shaver. They also do the repair service, if you don't want to do it yourself.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Where are the rechargeable batteries located and can any rechargeable battery work as a replacement?

The battery is inside the shaver body. You must remove the rubberized grip to access the screws to disassemble it. You can not use any rechargeable battery. The battery is lithiun ion. The correct battery is available at See link below

You will find the replacement at See link below.

To open the shaver body, you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out.

I need to replace batts in a Braun #5520...i donr

You will need to remove the two screw covers on the bottom of the shaver. They are on each side of the hole where the cord plugs in. Then remove the two screws to take off the bottom and you can then slide the outer case off the bottom also. You may need to change the position of the lock to get this outer case off.
You will then need to remove the black plastic back of the inner case. It snaps on so you will need to 'unsnap' it. You can then remove the circuit board for easier access to the batteries. Reassemble in reverse.

You can purchase batteries from See link below

be sure to read the installation note on the item page

The braun 5510 shaver.. rechargeable or not

If working properly, model 5510 will work either from the internal rechargeable batteries or directly from the cord. If your shaver no longer recharges, it needs to have the rechargeable batteries replaced.

Braun shaver model 5501 won't turn on anymore.

You probably need to replace the rechargeable battery which dies after a few years (no longer can be recharged) like all rechargeables .

No power

The motor brushes may be bad. Take the screen off and turn the shaver on. Manually move the blade back and forth a bit and see if it starts to engage. If it begins to run when you do this, the brushes are worn. Braun does not make replacement motors for your shaver
