I ran a cleaning cycle on the lower oven. Now it won't heat

I ran a cleaning cycle on the lower oven. Now it wont heat in any mode. Controls still work normally as does the top oven. Blower kicks on as expected and oven thinks it is heating but no heat. I think it must either be the Terms-Fix (PS974726) or the Thermal Sensor (PS374693). I really don't want to buy both parts unless I need to. Any guesses as to which problem is the most likely. Neither element in the lower oven gets warm. (Like I said, top oven works perfectly so I am guessing it's not the control board).

The answer is the thermal sensor, mine has gone bad everytime I clean the oven. Solution, run a fan on the oven while you are self cleaning, this keeps the outside heat away from the unit. Pain to replace the sensor, its in the middle back of the oven, have to pull the whole unit out.

I wish I could give you the answer you need without checking it first. The truth is, unless you verify a component with a meter, there's no way to know if it's good or bad. A multimeter on the 'ohms' scale, to do a 'continuity test' is the only way to test a 'thermal switch' or the element itself. If you could get a meter, I could give you the instructions to test, which would require you to take things apart to get to the components...?

Jtp45 lower oven hot heating on any cycle

Possibly a tripped thermal fuse. Should be located behind the panel in between the upper and lower ovens. Might have a red reset button on it you can push down. If it clicks and then works again, look for possible cooling fan problems.

My whirlpool oven model RBD245 is locked after the self cleaning cycle, it does not heat up even if i open the latch with a tool?

Whirlpool have the self clean latch assembly solenoid go bad and wont return back to unlock the switch to tell the control is is no longer in self clean. Replace the self clean latch assembly or make sure the switch on the assembly is in the non self clean mode, If the oven starts working then you know the problem if it still doesn't work then there may be other issues.

I ran the upper oven cleaning cycle and now it doesn't heat or broil. I have tried the reset of turing onff the breaker for 30 minutes and that did not work.

CHECK THAT YOU HAVE 220 AT THE PLUG OR POWER CONNECTIONS. TURN OFF POWER AND CHECK THE CONNECTIONS TO THE ELEMENTS MAY HAVE BURNED . IF OK AND NO VOLTAGE THEN CONTROLS.

I have a Bosch HBN 455 double oven with the convection oven on top, and a regular oven on bottom. The unit is about 5 yrs old. We recently ran the Self Clean mode, and it seems like it has malfunctioned...

Hi,

Do you see any Error Message on the Display?

If not, then it should not be a Concern. More often this could be Thermal Fuse on the Back of the Unit ( On Most Models ) will stop the Broil and Bake from Turning ON. You would just start a bake cycle and the temperature will sit at 100 and something degrees and never raise.appliance.

Let me know, once you check the same.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Good Morning: The self cleaning mode engages, locks the oven on the bottom, but does not clean. On the top, the latch does not engage at all on the self cleaning mode. What to do?

A safety feature on the oven door latch is preventing it from going on to clean. Find the reason the door wont latch on top section and it should clean then.

We know your controls are working asking the clean cycle to start because your lower door latches.

SO

Some things to check :

1. Bent or worn out door latch or striker or catch assembly
2. No power to motor to move latch assemble
3. Board for self cleaning may have fuse out or be bad entirely.
4. Motor assembly that moves the latch could be bound up or worn out

If this helps you understand your problem please rate me as high as you can and thank you for using fix ya. Good Luck and God Bless.

Oven won't heat

Unplug the power cord for thirty minutes, this should reset the oven.
If this still does not work do the following:
Press clean and then cancel. This will reset the appliance.

If the error does not clear , then during the self cleaning cycle, the high temperature has probably damaged the temperature sensor probe, and it must be replaced.

Self-Clean gets too hot on JTP56 double-oven

Your husband is correct, kind of. You should not try self clean again until you get the oven repaired. You have a temp sensor going out. I doubt that the oven actually got too hot, most likely the resistor in the sensor is failing as it heats up and giving a false temp reading.Since the lower oven was operating at the time, it is probably the sensor in the lower oven. Don't use it for baking until you get it repaired. It will go out completely and shut down both ovens. You should be able to get a new sensor for around $30 and they are not hard to replace.

The oven won't set your house on fire during clean mode if the cabinets were built with the correct air space and dimensions, but they do get very hot, about 800 degrees F. Most ovens give no trouble during the clean cycle, but if there is any weak components in the electronics system it will show up then. It will give you less trouble over time if you don't use the self clean mode and just manually clean it.
