Question about Belkin Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Okay-- I have no idea what I'm doing so don't assume I know or understand anything! We have 3 computers in our home with the basement one wired and the other two connected to the internet using a Belkin wireless router. For no apparent reason, we have lost internet connection on one of the two nonwired computers. How do I restore "connectivity"?

If the other two computers are still connected and working ( wired / wirelessly ) it has nothing to do with the router or the modem. Its with the wireless card in your computer.
First of all try to swap the wireless cards between both the computers to isolate the problem. Then if it is not the cards, try power cycling the computer to see if that can solve the issue
hope that helps

Just wondering if it is okay to put a duel flush toliet in a basement. We live in Winnipeg Manitoba our house came with the pipes rough in thank you for you time

understand that a duel flush toilet is just a water saving idea and not an engineered specific situation
the flush is 1/2 for one flush or full for the other
the flush action and waste disposal is the same as for a single flush unit

Do you know what a body control module is? The instrument cluster can have codes also . Did you check fuse's in the SJB ? . Do you know how to do electrical testing using a volt meter ? How to read a wiring diagram to find power to the circuits in question , how to check grounds ? If the tire pressure monitor light is on , there is a code in the IPC or SJB . I would look at wiring diagrams to see if the thing's you have listed have anything in common ! B+ voltage supply circuit , share a ground point etc....

Why is Fixya no bloody good at answering questions when you advertise you can answer questions

Sorry. I\'m from Europe, know things about electronics and computers but I don\'t drive a Kawasaki GTR 1000. Lots of questions about electronics, camera\'s, computers phones and operating systems I try to answer. For the more than 2000 answers I gave I got lots and lots of thanks, but I never got one penny. All the people who try to answer questions, do this for free. They at least have the standard they don\'t try to sell crap or don\'t answer things they don\'t have any idea from.

If none of all the volunteers has (or has had) a Kawasaki GTR 1000 it is not likely anyone can answer this question. I do have some manuals, yes even service manuals of motor bikes, but not one from Kawasaki, so I even can\'t look up what I could answer to your question.

I think one call to a place where they sell Kawasaki cam tell you what oil you need. They perhaps even have it in stock. But not knowing any motor home close to me, I do not make such a call.

I hope you understand all the volunteers here do their best, but can\'t answer all questions. I do have to admit your questions are very clear and better to understand than lots of other questions, but we (till now) don\'t have an answer.

Again Sorry.

Electric Phases for Hobart Oven

you must understand this : your electric oven must be indicate if it is a single phase( use 3 wires for 230 2 hot wires + 1 Neutral see the diagram like dryer? you must sure about this. Normally any appliance for home are single phase NOT 3 phase.

2) If you electric oven, say 3 PHASES( use 4 WIRES, 3 hot wires+1 Neutral wires) this for industrial application +comercial 270266c5-a0ad-44dc-9f40-e963255d47f5.jpgNOT for home

However if you system is 3 phase you must need to install 3phase transformer.ba1c9d4d-85e3-4744-8ce5-2f25c6e34ad3.jpg

Riding down the road at 30 m.p.h. my 91 y.j. wrangler 4 ltr. just quit. I replaced the coil ,it ran2 blks. and quit again. after replacing 2 coils we broke the little catch on the wire that holds it into...

Pretty likely you can get a connector for the coil from any scrapyard. As you really don't yet know what's wrong with the computer, no idea how you'd deal with it. I'd begin by making sure the grounds are good and just unplugging and plugging back in the harness connectors (often if one's a little corroded. just doing that will clean it up). You can also use tuner and contact cleaner available at radio shack or other electronics place.
While the connectors are removed if you can find a decent wiring diagram you should check continuity from the computer terminals to the coil to make sure a wire isn't partially shorted or broken. If you don't have any understanding of what I just said, please don't rate my answer. No decent shop would diagnose unless they actually did hands on testing. I can't do that either. What i mentioned is what I'd do first.

How to ground receptacles in home basement

you need a 2 wire with ground. Some older homes were wire with just a 2 wire. you can take a wire from the nuetral and connect it to the ground screw to trick testers into thinking it is grounded properly, but i would not.

2nd Computer in basement cannot access Internet

if your signal is low in there the best work around would be to lay a cat-5 cable up to the router, the wired connection would be faster and more reliable then a wireless, or buy another wireless router and put it closer to the basement than the first and wire the 2 routers togher with cat5 using the second router as a fancy switch.

Ethernet will travel over 2 pairs from the basement to your space that has to be less than 100 feet away. You can run it over flat cable, but not get 100 base T, but it is still going to be as fast and quicker than a wireless bridge and regeneration.

If I understand what you're trying to do, it will acutally take 3 routers or 2 and a wireless access point. The key would be to set up one router as a wireless and the other as a bridge. That gets your ethernet signal to the back of the router. Now, you need a wirelss access point or 3rd router to make it be wireless in your space.

Most modern premisies are wired with 4-pair cable. Even if they didn't make home runs from your space to the basement, there ought to be at least 2 spare pairs in the house cable. Those 2 pairs can feed ethernet to your space where you just have to plug in a router and configure it as an access point, or let it be a wireless router for that matter with or without being a DHCP server. In my wildest dreams, I can't even think of a 5 story structore being more than 150 cable feet away, well withing the 300 feet allowed for ethernet.

Let us know what you finally do.
