Open up the machine and look under the dvd drive. It's tricky to get out so take your time or you'll do some damage.

I have a dell opticplex gx620. It was working perfectly until the windows crashed. I have been trying to reload windows xp but once i press f8 to accept it will show blue screen.

You need an actual Dell windows disk to reload to a new hard drive as it will flash the associated drivers and boot sequence to the RAM. Nothing else works with DELL!

How do i replace motherboard

On a desktop it is easy because you don't have many parts to remove. A digital camera might help to remember where things go. Just remove the case and lay the laptop on it's side. Start unplugging the connections that run from the Power Supply to the motherboard and devices such as the hard drive and DvD Drive. You might have to remove the Power Supply, Hard Drive, Cd Drive, etc if they are in the way of getting the board out. There will either be screws that hold the motherboard to the case or there will be latches used to hold it to the case. Once removed, just lift the board out.

Remember to take your memory, CPU, Heatsink and CPU Fan off the old board and put them on the new one. You will need some Thermal Paste to apply a fresh coat on the Cpu and HeatSink to keep the board from overheating.

Dell Optiplex gx620 Hard Drive password how to remove?

I need to remove the hard drive from my Dell Optioplex GX620 for disposal, but I have no idea about the contents on the inside of a computer. I do not want to remove the wrong thing.

The hard drive on this model has two green plastic runners along its sides. It is about 4 inches by 6 inches but the green runners should tip you off. You need to push down on the blue tab next to the drive, then slide the drive back towards the front of the machine then pull out.

Dell OptiPlex GX620 starts up then shuts down repeatedly

Try this: remove the DMOS battery and unplug the on/off switch plug. It's the one in the corner near the power supply. To be sure follow the cable from the front on/off switch board on back to this plug. Then plug the A/C cord in, if the system boots up fine, then replace the front panel power on/off swith board. Naturally you will not be able to power off the computer using the power switch (since we unplugged it), so you will have to just pull the plug. Hope this helps. Joe
