Histogram shouldbe on or off on lumix camera

The histogram is a tool that is useful to the photographer that shows a graph that represents how much color or bright and dark areas are in a photo. If you're looking at a photo that has a larger portion of the histogram graph on the left, it means there's a lot of dark / black tones - and that details in those areas are likely lost. The same holds true if the graph was heavy to the right edge - but it would mean there is a lot of bright or whites. Subtle details in these areas would also be lost. You can use the graph to adjust your exposure so that these details are visible. A wedding dress that lacks the fine lace details because the whites were "blown" (over-exposed) lacks interest when compared to a photo that preserves the details. Here's a link to a site with some great info in general - and about histograms specifically. Check it out.

Tinker with exposure settings to move the large areas of the graph away from the edges - this will show the details. You can switch the histogram off and on as you see fit.

I'm using the application that simulates tossing a coin a certain amount of time and graphs the frequency that heads and tails come up. I need to make a histogram from it; how can I export/transfer the...

If you are using the ProbSim application to toss a coin, the histogram is drawn after each set of tosses.
  1. Toss a certain number of times using the +10 or +50 tabs.
  2. To export the data (a big word for just two numbers) stop tossing the coins by pressing the key under the tab [ESC] (the Y= key).
  3. The bottom of the screen will display 5 tabs :[ESC], [TOSS], SET],[DATA], and [TABL].
  4. Press [F5] to activate the [TABL] menu.
  5. Your screen will display a table with 3 columns: TOSS for the toss number, 1 for the result of the toss (Head or Tail), and the last column CumH the cumulative number of Head results.
  6. At the bottom right of the screen you have a menu [GRAPH] above the GRAPH key.
  7. Press the Graph key to execute the Menu graph.
  8. The histogram is drawn.

Graphing problems

From what I understand you want to draw statistical graphs (scatter plot, box plot, etc.) and you window is set up correctly. Usually, one must first see agraph and adjust the window, but no matter.
If you do not see anything it may be due to the fact thea the statistical plots are turned off.

  4. Select the type of statistical plot. Use the right arrow to move highlight on one of the 6 types.
  5. Select the type:scatter, Xline, histogram, box plot, and press [ENTER] to validate the choisce.

I need help with graphing everytime i try to draw a graph it comes up with this ERR:INVALID DIM what does that mean

It means that your Xmin or Xmax is messed up. it often shows up when you are plotting somethings (histogram for exanple) and you don't have enough X or Y range to fit all the points in it. it also happens when you are multiplying matricies without using the right dimensions. ERR:INVALID DIM just means your dimension is invalid.

Blue and red squares over my image

A histogram is a graphic representation of the distribution of brightness values in an image. The C-5500 has two histograms. One displays a real-time graph on the LCD screen as you compose your images and during the Quick View of images after they are shot. The DIRECT histogram displays potentially over and under-exposed areas in the image with a grid of squares—red for over-exposure and blue for under-exposure. You can set the histogram to OFF to prevent the histogram from appearing.
