SOURCE: we need to transport a

It is not a good idea to lay it on it's side. However it can be done and if you do it, the secret is when you get to where you are going stand it upright and do not plug it in for at least 24 hours. That gives the oil a chance to go back down where it belongs.Waiting 48 would be even better. Hope this helps.

Hi, just like to know if it is ok to lay a fridge/freezer flat on its back to transport??

Usually not a problem unless the coils are exposed, but the unit should sit
overnight in the upright position to allow the oil in the crankase to settle
out before restarting unit.

Can you lay a refrigerater down flat to transport it

Yes as long as the coils that carry the freon is located on the top side of the compressor when laying down. Look at the lines on the compressor. You should see 2 of them. 1 larger than the other. Imagine you are tilting the refrigerator. If the lines are on the right side you can it down on it's left side ok. If they are on the left side you lay the fridge down on it;s right side. Hope this helps.

Is it ok to transport a refrigerator on it's side?

Not true. Refers since the 1950's are sealed units but for safety's sake let it sit for awhile after you move it.
