Question about Refrigerators

U-Line 15WCSS (wine refridgerator) not working.

Opened the wine cooler one day and it was very warm inside. The unit seemed like it was not on, could not hear any motor running. Turned to OFF and turned back ON, nothing happened, no sounds at all. Any thoughts?? thanks, Tom

Most likely the thermostat is bad not bringing the unit back on. the thermostat is the temperature control knob located in the toe grille of the unit. on the u-line unit replacing the control can get kind of involved but if you will follow the directions supplied with the part yyou can do it your self.

yes by removing your toe grille you will see a little box that houses the t-stat. if you wanted to test to be sure just remove the 2 wires that are connected to the thermostat and conncet them together to make sure compressor and fans start up.

I see the two wires that are connected to the thermostat, they both have a plastic end. How do I go about placing these two wires together, ie...cut off the plastic ends, strip the wires and then place together?? Please let me know your thoughts.
thanks, Tom

You could just jump them together with a clip (make sure the jumper does not touch ground and the power is disconnected while trying this). A safer way to go would be to check the control continuity with an ohmeter. The contacts should be closed in any knob position except off. You can get a part or additional advise at www.u-lineservice.com or 1-800-779-2547 (U-Line customer support line)

If your condensor fan is running and the compressor is running then you will need a tech to look at the sealed system for you.

This happens when the racks get too close to the evaporator. Or bottles. You can try to use hot water but usually you will need to buy new racks for the unit.

Frost is building in wine cooler

Check the door seals to make sure they are sealing good this can cause high humidity. The unit also seems to be getting to cold check with another thermometer

Is the compressor running? I don't know this unit, but know that if you are too warm that is the first thing to check. In reading about another unit that had a different problem, it was mentioned that there is a ciruit board. If it has relays on it then these are the most likely culprit. They are either not making contact or staying in contact too long... sometimes just tapping each relay usually a black plastic component will cause it to work intermittently..Not sure if you can get these but call the company help line at 1-800-263-2629.

Water leaking from unit

It may be the drain line is not dripping into the catch bucket under the back side, visually check to see if the line is reaching into the bucket and that it's not clogged up on the inside of the unit floor. The back panel being wet may just be condensation in between cooling cycles as the frost melts. If the unit is OK with keeping temps the refrigerant charge is likely OK.
