Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

I push the water dispenser and no water and no sound but a click.

I had this happen about a year ago and I took off the filter and run some water thru and it worked again. This time I took the hose off at the bottom and no water came out. I cleaned the filter which is onlyt 3mths old. Then I check to make sure water was getting to the filter and it is. Then I pushed on the water disenser and after about a minute I got water. the next day I tryed the water and the same no water and just a click.

maybe not related but the top vent in the non- freeze part is not blowing any cold air. There is nothing coming from it at all.

Sounds like the water pump is faulty or the water is freezing inside the tube and you could have an ice blockage. GE does have a heater available for this unit. You have to contact them directly to get this part at 1-800-626-2005 This is a repair best left to a professional if under warranty still. Other option is to do it yourself but it would not be easy if you are not prepared to tackle it.

Water not dispensing

new installs require one to hold down the dispense button sometimes as long as 3 min to allow the water to make its way thru the filter and lines and allow the air to get out , also if you have a well , I have run across one that didn't have enough pressure to push thru the filter when it was new ,as it takes at least 40 psi to push thru a dry filter when its new , it doens get easyier when its wet

Hello, lost water in the house, now when it came back on, water dispensor has a slow drip (not sure if related)... the dispensor handle seems to be working fine... it dispenses water when pressed.. doesn't...

remove bottom grill.

look for tube which runs thru freezer door.

follow back towards underneath of machince/ find push fit connector.

remove pipe which run thru door from connector and blow thru quite hard. reconnect and press dispenser paddle to allow water back thru

this shhould solve problem in 9/10 cases if it doesn't then you will need your water inlet valve checked

The water control valve on rear of refrigerator is weakening. That is typical sound for a coil that opens the side that dispenses water or ice tray refills to vibrate or buzz when weakening. If I had you r model number I could give you the part number. They are not expensive and easy to replace. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Water dispenser quit dispensing 2 days ago

Sounds like the micro switch has gone bad behind the dispenser cover. locate your handle or push button either you will remove the front cover to find the switch sometimes you remove inside the door behind the dispenser. but that sounds like the trouble your having. Maybe I've helped good luck. BB

IWater does not dispense.

Good day,
The hum is normal. That's the water valve in the rear of the machine being activated.
Lots of plumbing to be checked.
Water line starts at the dispensing outlet in the door, and runs thru the door to the bottom of the hinged side.
From there it goes to the filter,
'From there it travels under the machine into the cooling reservoir mounted back of the fresh food section behind the crispers.
From there it travels back out and runs to the water solenoid mounted on the back rear of the machine.
One of these lines or their fittings has failed.
It's a look-see repair.

Also, there is a remote chance the water line running inside the freezer door froze, causing this problem, and would require the machine be shut down (unplugged) and the door be allowed to defrost completely.

Sounds like a plugged water filter, assuming the water is turned on to the fridge. If you have a manual, refer to the section about water filters. The filter is usually accessible from the front of the fridge at the bottom....requires about a 1/2 turn counter-clockwise. Some units require that the water be turned off first but not all.

If you do not hear a click when activating the dispenser, there could be an issue with the water solenoid (water valve) that opens and closes when you use the water dispenser....agai...check the manual if at all possible.

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

Whirlpool side by side, 7 years old. not making ice

try using a hair dryer to thaw out the trough and remove the ice. please note the ice will run all the way up into the tube where it comes thru the cabinet.
this may have occured from your recent filter change as a new filter introdues alot of air into the water system and will cause these tubes to freeze up. in the future right after you replace your filter be sure to run aout 1/2 to 1 gallon of water thru water dispenser to clear air out of system. thx peyton
