Hi, I have a 9-354 error on my Xerox DC12. Can you help?

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi, many thanks for your assistance so far. However, I have replaced the copy/print cartridge. The belt looks ok and the developer housing unit turns manually ok and each developer roller turns ok. I got the 9-354 error in the middle of making a copy, if it helps.

Hi, can I do a quick test/check to see if the ADC is working?

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi, can I do a quick test/check/visual to see if the ADC is working on my Xerox DC12 (without the machine being on)?

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

I have rested the machine. But the error is still there. Is there a 'workaround' to get past this error? (9-354 Xerox DC12).

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi, I have replaced the whole transfer belt assembly from my spare DC12. Everything is clean but I am still getting error 9-354 a a couple of seconds after start-up.

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi, I have shook up all colours (still get error). Is there one particular colour this error code (9-354) refers to?

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

I will do that in a moment. The machine has been complaining that it was out of yellow, now and again, for a couple of days. I think you are on the right track!

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi, I have tried several (new) yellow toners. All shaken first. But the error is still there. Do you know where the sensor is?

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

I have replaced the 'whole' toner assembly with another. Made sure all toner chutes are full. All toner cart are new. Still getting error 9-354 ! Can anyone help.

  • rick_kordows Sep 24, 2009

Hi Mike, Many thanks for the info. I have tried new toner cartridges. Still get error 9-354. I cannot find any evidence of crum chips on the toner cartridges. Would the error be referring to another crum somewhere?

  • rick_kordows Sep 25, 2009

Well done Mike. That worked a treat! I have been asking experts all day ? you?re the man!!!

Hi Rick,
All I can seem to find at the moment is this:
09-354: Xerographic Module CRUM not detected
9-xxx Codes are all Xerographic problems such as toner problems, developer problems, Drum Cartridge problems, ADC (Auto Density Control) problems too.
The CRUM chip is what tells the copier that the correct toner is installed. It is specific to the toner cartridge so If it is a new cartridge then it should have a new CRUM chip and there should be no problem. If it is a recharge it's possible that the chip was not changed or the wrong one was used.

If you have recently changed the toner, then check that everything is located correctly, if that doesnt work, it might be worth trying another toner cartridge.

You probably wouldnt need this but you can have a look at the Diagnostic Menu:
User Interface (UI) DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY:
Turn on the power… then while holding down the ‘0’ button, press ‘Start’.
The screen will prompt you for an “Access Number”… use the keypad to enter ‘6789’ which is the Default Access Number.
This should bring you to a menu of options to choose from:
• NVM Reset (Non Volatile Memory) / NVM Initialization
• NVM Read / Write (memory adjustments) you will need to know which codes do what (not menu driven… see our website)
• Component Control (for testing sensors, motors, etc.)
• Print (for running Test Patterns from Diagnostics)
• Subsystem Check (for fuser nip measurement check out, and developer unit check out)
• Max Setup (for setting up copy quality)
Have a look here for a little bit more information on the CRUM:
http://www.xeroxtechnology.com/crum
Hope that helps
Mike

hmmm, as far as im aware the crum is only on the toner cartridges, I cant say im familiar with the actual location of the chips either.

if we knew where exactly we were looking maybe we could fix it, could possibly be a faulty sensor else where as you suggested.

I keep coming up with the same solutions everywhere I've looked though and as you've already tried several different toner cartridges I'm tempted to think that its not the toner crum thats faulty but the actual sensor inside the printer that reads the crum chip.

Why is nothing ever easy eh.

I'll have a chat to a few guys at work to see if they can shed a bit more light on this as I probably wont be of much help at this stage.

    Sorry I couldnt help more.

    Regards

    Mike

    Hey again Rick,

I've managed to get some information:

If its an 9-354 error (?). Then set NVM to 776-060=0 and 776-372=0

I'm only guessing that this would be found in the User Interface I posted earlier and would be found in the NVM Read / Write section.

    I hope that helps

    Mike

Hi,

9-xxx Codes are all Xerographic problems such as toner problems, developer problems, Drum Cartridge problems, ADC (Auto Density Control) problems too

But 9-354 indicates empty toner, Still if your toner is not empty there may be some blockage in the tomer
Tbe blockagae may prevent the toner from falling, If you remove the toner drum and shake a little and load the drum, should solve your problem

Please leave me comment, If you need furthur assistance

The 9-354 error is acalibration error so you can either rest the machine and run the calibration from new or call in a service engineer.

This is related to the timing of the transfer belt being out of range. This may be due to the reflector patch on the transfer belt being dirty so the timing sensor is missing the patch as it rotates. It can also be caused by the transfer belt slipping or the sensor itself being faulty and not recognizing the belt reflector patch as it passes by. This will need a service engineer to fix it.

I couldnt find what your exact code represents. But i would check your toner, and cartridges. If you havent already. Otherwise it may be wise to get the ADC checked out.

Hi,

The above error means :-

9-354 = no crum found on xerographic module

You need to have the service manual in order to get this rectified. However, i would advise you to call Xerox for this.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

It's not easy for a user. You need to have a tech. This is a complex machine. If you want to try user level solutions, i suggest you, to remove developer housing from machine and clean donor
roll, it is roll which transfer toner to xerographic belt.

It should be light blue color, then check your photoreceptor belt life counter, if it is over 125000 copies, replace it.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks.
