Why does it take my washer so long to complete a cycle

If you're filling from cold then the water has to heat up if you select a hot wash. If your water preasure is very low then it could take a long time to fill every time.

It sounds like either the cable's have rusted off, fallen off the water heater element. Or the Water heater element has failed.

In a previous house, we had both a hot water feed and a cold water feed. My new house only has cold water feed, can i still use this washing machine?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

In a word- YES!

You will need to purchase, from a hardware (?) store, a 'Y' adapter. Upside down the single end screws into the cold water supply and the hot and cold washer pipes screw into the double end. The washer is fooled into thinking it has hot and cold! When it expects hot, it opens its hot valve but instead gets the cold water and has to heat it up. It will therefore take longer for the machine to do the washing. When it wants cold for rinses, it opens its cold valve and gets the same water! Simple ;-0)
Good luck,
John C

Cothes are being put on a 40 wash but coming out stone cold is there a way to check if water is heating as no fault is flashing up on display

I would expect the clothes to be cold after the cycle is finished, as it will have completed at least 3 cold water rinses, so I do not think you have a problem.
If you want to check if the heater is working o/k, then select a hot wash programme, say 90 degrees, and feel the door glass after 30 mins or so, it should feel warm , and if the heater is not working, then normally the washer will not complete the programme.

My washing mechine washes with only cold water

They make a Y or T-adapter so you could hook up the hoses (you;d have to pick up one for hot water) and then the other part of the attachment to the washer.

This is not exactly it, but it'll give you an idea of what you need to look for:

Washing machine doesnt heat the water

Most washing machines do not heat water, they merely let the hot water into the wash tub that comes from your house hot water heater.... when selecting warm, hot and cold water will be mixed together to get warm or when selecting cold.. only the cold water is allowed into the wash tub.. Please provide brand and model number of machine so I can tailor a reply toward your specific washer...
