Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a Toshiba refridgerator hybrid plasma 322 litres, works fine and keeps my food cold but just lately it has started making a low pitched continuous squeaking type noise coming from the back whenever the motor makes a noise this squeaking noise comes as well. I don;t think it is in the pipes rather the motor at the bottom of the fridge - any idea what this could be tried to ring toshiba for assistance but they were not helpful did not know the number for toshiba fridges! Only 6 months out of warranty

SOURCE: samsung side by side refridgerator making noise and freezing

its a heater cycle problem..the defroster is not working properly. its building up ice in the evaporator that touches the evaporator fan that makes that loud noise but stops when you open a door. it could be either a bad heater, a bad thermo disc or a bad timer.hope i was able to help

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

SOURCE: amana side-by-side fridge freezer only cold at the bottom

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom

SOURCE: fridge has stopped working/getting cold

check the relay, the clicking noise is your overload tripping out on overload, the run winding of the compressor are not coming on line, if your relay is good, the ohm out your compressor.

SOURCE: whirlpool gold refridgerator light not working and is making funny noise

Your issue sounds the same as mine. I have a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side. The fridge lights don't work.
Appliance Repair guy came today - after testing everything came to the conclusion it's the electric "computer board" that controls everything. Tech says once replaced, everything will be fine.

My refridgerator is not keeping cold any more? what is the problem? The model is Ge GSS22WG. it does not freeze or keep things cold, all of my food went bad. I need help I dont have the money to buy a new...

it could be an air flow problem. Pull the unit out, unplug it. Clean out any dust, dirt, or anything else you see in there. Also when you push it back in make sure you have a few inches clearance behind and to each side of unit . Good Luck.

Refridgerator door has started poping open

Make sure the gasket on the door is clean. This gasket has a magnet inside that must make good contact with the metal area on the Ref.

Also, sometimes this gasket will lose its shape. A little heat from a hair dryer while working it back into shape with your hand will help.

Refridgerator side of my refridgerator keeps freezing my food

The problem may be low gas or it may be the thermostat is set too low.  First, look at the possibility that you may have the food partly blocking an air channel which is where the very cold air is coming from..  Fridge side should read about 40 F after the door is closed for about an hour.  If colder, adjust.

NOt keeping food cold

Good posibility that some thing is wrong with the defrost system. This is not as expensive to repair as a compressor. Is it worth it? The compressor and having it replaced and recharged will run much more than 250 a lot of the time or very close to it. Unplug it for a few hours with the freezer door open. Then plug it back in and see if it starts freezing again. This would tell you if it is something with the defrost cycle. The low motor noise may be the fan in the bottom of the unit. It would be good to know if the compressor is running or not.

Variable noise in freezer

That could be an idication that the fan motor is starting to fail. The bearings go out and it starts squeaking and vibrating as the fan blade becomes out of balance. If that fan stops working the fresh food section won't get cold air blown into it and will warm up rapidly.
