Camera will not power up with new batteries installed.First make sure the batteries are fully charged and installed properly.Looking at my Fuji A360 (takes 2 AA batteries) i see with the compartment open and batteries removed a plus + sign and a minus sign - located just inside the compartment in front of where you insert the memory card.I had to put my glasses on to see but its there.Ok,another problem could be corrosion on the battery contacts-see post for removing corrosion. All right now-could be the metal contacts are pushed down and need to be pried back up so the battery makes better contact. You'll need to fashion a piece of stiff wire(but not too big a diameter piece) into a hook and keep prying or hooking the metal contact till it bends upward (i had to put my glasses on and use a magnifying glass along with a brite light to see what i was doing).Additional tip-according to the manual use AA alkaline batteries or AA size Ni-MH rechargable batteries.Well unless you have an endless supply of regular AA batteries or you like running to the store to buy new ones, get rechargable batteries!I just charged my "old" rechargable batteries yesterday and when i turned on my camera they were already dead.I know the batteries were my old batteries because i taped a lable to the batteries to keep from mixing them up with the new ones i just bought (i keep extras so i always have charged batteries).Old rechargable batteries lose their charge faster if left in camera but are fine to use rite outa the charger, just make sure you have a new set charged up if your taking alot of pictures or won't be where you can plug the charger in (i take my charger along with me when i go somewhere-keep in camera case). Also i buy different brand of batteries so i can tell the batteries apart (which ones i've charged) if youre like me and have several devices that take AA batteries or lable them. One more quick tip-i see my brand of batteries say-Nickel Metal Hydride 2000 mah.Hope this helps someone,Gary Malcontent

When I turn on my camera, the lens does not extend, even after putting in new batteries. The camera is about 3 years old, and hasn't been used in the past year. Before, it worked fine, but now the shutter won't even open.
