Question about Gateway 400SD4 Notebook
If you have the cdrom set to boot in the bios,then just put your windows xp cd in ,restart, and follow the directions on screen,you will have to goto the gateway website and down load some of the drivers.

Remove the screen by taking the plastic cover around the screen off, the screws are hidden behind the small rubber bumpers. Once the plastic is off, there will be four screws holding the screen in place, remove those and the screen will pull forward, then you will see where the lcd ribbon connects to the screen. Disconnect it and set it to the side. Now you will need to remove the plastic piece at the top of the keyboard in order to get to where the ribbon connects to the board. You may need to remove the keyboard in order to remove this piece, and there may or may not be screws holding this piece in place. Pay close attention and go slowly, these should come apart rather easily unless there is a screw holding them.
