There are 7 buttons with its front panel including power ON/OFF switch button. They are; From left to right:- Video, Menu, Volume(-ve), Volume(+ve), Channel(-ve) and Channel(+ve). If these buttons are not there, it will be difficult to operate this set without a remote control. If you haven't the remote contro with you now, buy one universal remote control. The universal remote control suited for this set is COMCAST ON DEMAND CUSTOM-3 UNIVERSAL REMOTE control. The setup codes are:-

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t
You can try powering the unit off, unplugging it for 15 minutes and see if controls return.. It's a long shot, because what you're describing is usually the Eeprom failure, RCA p/n# 241275...
The Eeprom is located at U13102 on the signal board..
