  1. Find out the manufacturer and model number
  2. Download the firmware update files and if they're inside a zip file, it's very important that you unzip every file before running the update or it may fail. Before you leave the manufacturer's website, see if they have any specific instructions on how to update the firmware. Also check to see if any instructions were included in the download. Samsung for example included a pdf file on how to run the update.
  3. Please note that it is VERY important that your computer remains on and doesn't freeze up during the update process. Close all other unnecessary programs before starting the update. Disable your antivirus and any other protection software so it doesn't stop the process. Norton and McAfee often like to interrupt the process because they assume something bad is going on. Also don't run an update during a thunderstorm because if your computer loses power in the middle of the process, that would be really bad.
If anything interrupts the updating process before it's complete, your hardware will likely become a paperweight aka a brick. It will have a half updated, scrambled operating system and will cease to function completely. Some routers and other advanced hardware have a rollback feature just in case but not many other pieces of hardware do so be careful!
WARNING:
Make sure that the update process is not interrupted or it may break the hardware permanently

Yes the firmware can be upgraded and depending on the manufacturer if they added better file support or navigation most firmware updates will fix exsisting problems or bugs and some are just improvements to the player itself

How do u download new music and delete old music, im having trouble with this PLEEEEASE HELP

When your player is connected to your computer with the USB connector, you can use your computer file browser software to view all files on your player. Your player will appear as Sansa m230 or m240. Follow these steps:
1. Use the USB connector cable provided with your player to connect the USB port on the top of your player to an open USB port on your computer. The player will appear as a Windows Portable Device on your computer.
2. Delete your music files to the player with software tools like Rhapsody, Windows Media Player or Napster Client.

To transfer music from your computer to your player:
1. Use the USB connector cable provided with your player to connect the USB port on your player to an open USB port on your computer. The player will appear as a Windows Portable Device on your computer. (Can't find the USB port on your player? See The Basic Controls section on page 3.)
2. Drag and drop music files to the player from any location on your hard-drive

I transfered a bunch of music to the player and the only way I can get it to play more than one song at a time without going back into the menu and clicking the next one is to click each song individually...

I am not familiar with this particular model, however most basic MP3 players have their own way of accessing files. It should be universal across most, if not all. If you transferred your music by dragging and dropping folders onto the player, you might try just dragging the individual files. If you have just dropped only the files (not in the folder format) and it is doing this, try reformatting the player with the provided software or in the internal menus. Then try reloading the music as I previously described, just the files only not in any folders or sub folders in Windows. I cannot stress enough the importance of making sure you have the music backed up on your computer or another hard drive completely separate from the MP3 player. If you format the player all the music and any files you have stored/saved on it will be wiped clean and you will lose that stuff forever if you have not backed it up. I hope this helps and is the right solution for your issue. Thanks and Cheers.

Screen says that it has a booting error! cannot download music.

you should have been provided with a cd with a software for upgrading your device.format your device using windows, (remember dont use quick format) and then install the software from the cd.connect the device and then try to upgrade it. if your system notifies that it isnt able to upgrade or if it says system file error, generate the system file by recording a voice and saving it.then connect it to the pc and upgrade. hope your problem is tackled.have a nice day

Nextar MA933A MP3 player File System error

download the disc that came with it no matter what windows/mac/lenux version you have.
drag it all out to your desktop.
look through the folders for a program with a rocket ship icon.
open it.
plug your mp3 player into the computer.
select "firmware upgrade" on the computer.
select the newest upgrade.
open it.
then click "upgrade firmware" and it'll be fixed for the system error, but you'll have to re-download the music.

Music Files for RCA Lyra 1080

I have upgraded my RCA Lyra 1080 and show music files on the Lyra Window in my pc, but when I attempt to play music on the Lyra it says "no music files."

Directory or file cannot be created

The file format is probably wrong. iTunes will not work with this player, for instance.

The format of the songs are wrong in one way or another. Each Mp3 player has a product spec sheet that lists which type of music file it is compatible with (Mp3, WMA, WAV, AAC, etc). You can't play iTunes songs, which are AAC format, on a player that only accepts Mp3 or WMA format.

The second formatting issue has to do with the DRM license on the songs you have downloaded. Right click a song that gave you an error, click on "Properties," and click on the "License," "Media Usage Rights," or "Digital Rights Mgmt" tab (wording varies by configuration). Not every song allows unlimited or even one-time transfer to a "portable device" (code word for "Mp3 player" in this case). Also, some songs are fixed-term - they expire after a while - sometimes in as little as 24 hours.

To get around this, convert every song to Mp3 format. Either that, or upgrade your music service subscription to the highest pkg they have available and never cancel (Napster's basic music svc, for instance, does not let you transfer to an Mp3 player, but their "Napster To Go" upgrade does allow transfer).

Dell dj mp3

If it kept going to recovery mode that means your device firmware is corrupted...in that case what you can do is to contact dell so they can provide you with the firmare upgrade or you can follow the link below and that should solve the problems you are having...

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R96127&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=124571

If that doesnt solve it you can format your player inside windows media player1.gif..NOT MY COMPUTER1.gif...and then that should reset the firmware as well..
Thank You
