My computer does not show the cd drive in my lenovo notebook, what should i do to get it back

It sounds like you need to replace your drive. If you've tried multiple cd/dvd's you probably need to replace the drive.

Hi. Are you using the Recovery disk from Lenovo or is it another Windows installer. Using oher Cd's other Lenovo Recovery disk will not work. Your computer's motherboard is locked in using lenovo's recovery disk that came with the system. if you want your system back and running. You must use lenovo recovery disk.

beside your power button there is a small button that will have a curved arrow on it, your system must be shut down then press and hold down the button wth a curved arrow or it may say NOVO on it press and hold it down for 4-5 seconds while the ssytem is shut down the computer will power on if you press that button then it will look like it is loading windows but it will show on the screen Lenovo Rescue OneKey System then you might see the option fix files or advance if this screen comes up it means that you still have the option to get windows working again if you click advance it will give you an option of Lenovo Password Management, Lenovo Anti Virus and Lenovo Rescue System select lenovo rescue system it will give you the options restore from initial backup, restore from customer backup select restore from initial back up to restore back to factory defaults unleass you created a back up of your own ^_^

it looks like you need an update for your DVD driver (Optiarc drives )
use the lenovo support site to get the latest driver for your notebook,

This is the PXE boot for the factory, or a tech to shoot windows into it. As the machine starts, press the key that will get you into the BIOS to make sure the hard drive is the first boot device. If the computer then comes up with "No Operating System Found" you will need to get it reloaded. You get a windows cd, go back into the BIOS, set the cd drive as first, then save and restart. Press any key when prompted, and follow instructions.

Were you the one installing your OS and programs? You CD drive might be located in another drive. It's not necessarily drive E.

CD is damaged or the drive is damaged. Doe sit do this with any CD? If so the drive is broken - they cannot be fixed.

Hello brush71, it most likely is.
I suggest going to BIOS and trying to enable the cd drive.
If not possible, perhaps there is a hardware failure.
As you've described a problem with the Hard-Drive as well, I would suggest, if warranty is still applicable, to turn to your nearest Lenovo lab and have the computer fixed.
