Well maybe it is. Sometimes when these cards are inserted the little slide on the left side is pushed down just enough to prevent the drive being written to Push it all the way to the top of the card and try to put it in straight without angling it so the lever is caught.

Normally, you can only insert an SD card one way. Try a different SD card or check to see if the SD card you're using has the "write protect" switch on. If that's not the issue try formatting the card in your PC and then format it in the camera.

My sandisk is failing to format even to delete items which are inside it is saying disk is right protected whilst it is not protected

Hello Sean,

Please try to format the SD card using the SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC. The software formats all SD memory cards, SDHC memory cards.

Download the software from the link provided below :

Says memory card full when card is empty on a Canon G10

Check the memory card to see if you have accidentally protected it. There should be a little physical switch that you can slide to protect and unprotect your card. It is very similar to the write-protect switch for old 3.5" floppy disks, if you remember what those are.
Check also to see if you can write files to your card through your computer. The card could be defective, which may also give you that error through the camera.
Good luck,

My card says it is locked on my canon powershot A530 how do i unlock it?

When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

There's a small switch on the side of the card. Slide it in the other position. (The card is now write protected like the computer diskettes used to be).

Put the memory card into the SD adaptor and turn the white switch on the left of the card in the opposite direction.

See if that will work.

You may have to turn your phone off and back on again as well after reinserting the card back into the phone.
