Bios battery / manual

My grand daughter has a toshiba sp6100. The bios battery has gone so she has to press f1 and mess about at start up. I am trying to get the manual to find out where the battery is but it isn't on the toshiba support page, probably too old, any help would be appreciated

You dont need manuals for this. Open the casing, check the motherboard for a battery. Replace it carefully. Let me know if you need more help.

Reset password cmos toshiba satellite A65-s1064

The only way to reset the cmos battery is to remove the battery from the back, open the bottom of the laptop and remove the button battery for 3-5 minutes. Replug in the battery and close up the case. Once completed, you can then create a new password.

On start up my computer says rtc battery is low or cmos checksum is inconsistent. Press (f1) key to set date/time. I press f1 but nothing happens. blank screen. I can press ctrl alt del and it will restart...

Your RTC battery or CMOS battery is either dead or too low to keep the correct settings, windows will not operate correctly without the proper date and time kept. This battery has to be replaced for your system to operate. Below is the service manual that will advise you of the proper procedure to replace the battery. Once the battery is replaced, reboot the laptop, go to the BIOS screen and reset the date and time, then reboot as normal. In the case of your particular laptop, the laptop has to be disassembled down to the lower case and motherboard. The included service manual has the procedure for this.

I need to clear he bios password in a toshiba satellite pro L40

  1. Remove battery.
  2. Remove memory.
  3. look at the side of the memory at the top left side and locate the little brassy coloured dots with the lettering JRST1 at the side (jumper reset 1).
  4. Touch something metal across them for a few seconds.
  5. thank me because no where on this stupid internet has anyone got a solution to this and I had to find it out on myself.
Good luck, Bowling Crony.
