HI, Step 1 Your first step to getting your air conditioner to run better is to do proper maintenance. First turn the unit off.

  • Step 2 Next, you will need to remove the filter and see if it needs cleaning. Most time this alone can make it run better. Sometimes more is needed.
  • Step 3 If cleaning the filter worked, then you are done. If not the following steps can be followed. Unplug your unit.
  • Step 4 Remove it from the window.
  • Step 5 Using the tools needed, take the casing off of the unit.
  • Step 6 Set the casing aside. Look at the unit itself, is it covered in dust and build up? If so, taking a cloth gently clean off the debris.
  • Step 7 If you notice that there is more debris covering the unit all over, you can take a water hose and spray out the unit. Although this is not recommended, I have done it in an attempt to getting mine up and running.
  • Step 8 Once you have cleaned the unit itself. Take the glass cleaner and cloth, cleaning both inside and outside of the casing. Allow it to dry for a few moments then reassemble. Plug in your unit and check to make sure it is working before putting it back in the window, there isn't needed in putting a unit in that still doesn't cool.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Tips & Warnings
    • If cleaning the unit doesn't help it to work better, than having it serviced by a tech is a must if you choose to keep and not replace.
    • Again I do not recommend the water hose. I done it myself risking tearing the unit up completely.
    thank you,

    Hello, if the unit is blowing warm air it could be due to 1) low airflow due to dirty air filter or evapoartor coil 2) low refrigerant charge 3) compressor is not engaging. check the filter first an let me know if it is clean

    Hi, I am going to purchase a 12000 btu 1.5Hp portable aircondioner unit for my living room of around 42 m^2 (7 metres wide and 6 metres in length). I am wondering if this unit is suitable for the room?...

    Hello =D
    12000 BTU will cool approximately 450 to 550 square feet. That's around 137 to 167 m/2.

    Unless your name is Beelzebub and the room your trying to cool is really really really really south (or in this case down). =D <that's not two horns is it? ";-} That should be more then enough to keep everything cool.

    Good luck and I hope this helps.

    Aircondioner was running power shut off in house for about 3 seconds came back on airconditioner will not oower back on

    O.K check the following: one if you have a "newer" unit, they have a "built-in surge protector, if the light is red,and (or) off, go to the breaker box and shut it off for at least 3-5 minutes, it has an internal reset, better known as a "relay" that will reset itsself, and then try turning the unit back on just like you alway's would, if it is a "newer" unit right where it plugs in there is a "reset Button " there also, but only if it doesn't start the first way I told you, try pushing the reset on the plug next, if the first didn't work ,the second will, please let me know if I can be of more help, god bless and happy 4th....

    Unless you can see if the fan is hitting something, you can't. You will need to take it to a repair shop. Sorry.
