Question about British Telecom Lands Phones
My phone rings once but then cuts off. Is this a line fault or something wrong at my house? I can still make outgoing calls. BT say there is a fault but can say whether it is them or me. If it is a fault at my end they want to charge my £125 call out charge. I have removed the main socket casing and tried an analogue phone in the test socket and the same problem happens. I have also tried seperating the phone line from the internet but that didn't work either. I am not a technician but i dont want to call out someone and get stung for £125.
If when you plug into the test socket the line still fails then it is an external fault. BT are responsible for all wiring going back to the exchange from the back of the master socket - the repair should be free.
