Question about Dell 1901FPt 19" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Dell screen (1901FP) won't come out of power saver mode

When the screen is plugged into my Dell Optiplex GX1, it goes into power saver after 10 mins and won't go out. Can't go into BIOS because I use a KVM switch (also because the BIOS doesn't load the USB keyboard drivers fast enough to let me go into setup...), can't get another video card, it worked on another monitor (with KVM switch) Help Anyone??? (PS, it did the same thing without the KVM switch, on the 1901FP screen, and can't permanently change screens....) (PSS, when it is in power save, it just says "in power save, move mouse or press any button on keyboard", the GX1 is running XP SP3, with 360mb RAM,I CAN NOT UPGRADE MACHINES)

Hold down the Fn and F8 keys, and it worked fine for me. or if your problem is you cannot wake from power saving mode (after your PC goes to sleep, then its probably just the driver for your video card). VISTA has some issues with certain drivers that the PC cannot wake from sleep

That will work, but you may also consider using that windows xp disk to upgrade, it'll fix the problem plus give you an upgrade. Kinda kills two birds with one stone.

My Dell Optiplex GX270 goes into power saver mode

this sounds like a bad power supply unit. First check that your Ram and graphics card a free from dust and dirt by removing them from their slots and cleaning them with a dry soft paintbrush then replacing them gently but firmly. Next check that all of the power cables going into the motherboard are pushed in gently but firmly. If this is done and you still get the same problem, then I suggest changing the power supply unit.
