Question about Sony KP-65XBR10W 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Sony KP-65XBR10W had blinking light

I have a Sony KP-65XBR10W that had a blinking light on the front, either blnking 9 times or continuously. I replaced the fuse and it no longer blinks, but does not respond to anything. Where should I start looking? I believe the problem is on the G-board/power supply. Let me know if you can help. Thanks

I no longer have the blinking light and wanted to know whether I fixed the problem by replacing the fuse or where to go from here. I will figure out what the codes mean

This information seems helpful, but if those are the locations of components I don't have any of those. It's probably not specific to my tv though. I also assume that the standby power comes from the power supply "G" board? R-resistor, Q-transistor, IC-integrated circuit, VDR-?

The tv will not respond to the Self Diagnostic Code.

Sony Projection TV KP-65XBR10W 10 years old. The red light on the front blinks in intervals 5 times and the picture blinks to black at the same time some times.

You probably have one or more of the CRT's drawing too much current because of age. The only repair is to replace all the CRT's. The Main problem is the cost involved and the fact that you must send the CRT's back to sony to be rebuilt because Sony no longer sends the assembly with the optic coupler. Sony just does not support the older NTSC sets when it comes to the CRT's.
I hope this helps,

My KP-65xbr10w appears dead no life when plugged in.

If you have no indication of power you may have lost all of the voltages to your power supply, including the 5 VDC standby voltage. I am not sure if you can get a new G board, but you should be able to get the individual components that you need. I would look for the cause of the power supply failure first, and I think I would look at your Horzontal Output Transistor. I am thinking it is Q501, Q401 or something like that. I have repaired many of these and the HOT is most likely the problem. A shorted HOT would cause the power supply fusables to blow and the entire set would appear to be dead.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

TV will not come on. TV standby light blinks nine times continuously. TV is Sony KP-51WS520

Nine Blinks- Replace D6116 and D6301 on the "G" board, do not solder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative).
