These are security screws. They are available as part of a set, sold by Harbor Freight.

How do I remove case of GE Jem31 microwave. There are only 3 screws on bottom and the back screws at the bottom are star shaped with donut around a peg.

You need a special screwdriver to get those star shaped screws out. I would suggest going to a hardware store or their website and look for "Tamper-proof Torx" screwdrivers or bits. You are probable going to need either a #15 or a #20 bit to get those screws out. Normally there are no screws on the bottom that hold the side cover on unless they are actually on the side of the microwave. The front is held on by clips mounted on the cover itself, so you need to make sure you catch them when you put the cover back on. Good Luck!

Removing The Bottom From a Black & Decker B2300 Bread Machine

Things you will need
  1. A large clear table with lots of room to work.
  2. At least 4 small dishes to keep screws organized.
  3. A few screwdrivers - 1 or 2 Phillips head, 1 or 2 straight (slotted) with long shanks are best.
  4. A straight screwdriver to be modified
  5. Utility knife or Xacto knfe
How-To open up the breadmaker
  1. Modify a straight screwdriver by taking a dremel tool with a 1/32" or 1/64" thick cut-off wheel and grind a notch in the centre of the blade as pictured below.ianchristie1.jpgThe depth of the notch is best around 1/16" deep because there are other screws in the machine that will need this screwdriver. However for our purposes here we only need it for 2 screws
  2. Proceed to remove the screws from the bottom of the machine. There are 4 Phillips/Straight screws (can use either type) and 2 of the special screws and set to the side in a dish. The screw locations are shown below: 1=Normal Screws -- 2=Special Screwsianchristie1_0.jpgThe special screws look like:ianchristie1_1.jpg
  3. Turn the machine over and disassemble the lid by opening up the lid and removing the 5 screws shown below and set aside in a dishianchristie1_2.jpg*Note be careful when removing the metal plate, the window is made of glass and can easily fall out and break, remove carefully. Also the plastic vent is just sitting in its opening and can fall out.
  4. Once you have removed the metal plate, remove the 2 screws holding the lid to the hinges and slide the lid off the hinges, put screws with the others from the lid as they are the same. Screws shown belowianchristie1_3.jpg
  5. Remove the controls and display. There are 3 screws as shown below, they are covered by little white plugs which are most easily removed with the point of a utility or Xacto knife, put the screws and plugs in a dish.ianchristie1_4.jpgThere are also 4 clips holding the panel in place, 2 pop off easily, the last two are near the display and can be awkwardianchristie1_5.jpg
  6. Now remove the 8 screws from the bottom of the "oven" walls, locations shown below and put in a dish.ianchristie1_6.jpg
  7. There are 8 clips inside the machine that hold the top to the bottom, with any luck they won't really be holding well and you can lift the top off. Start by pulling the left side up, letting the clips pop open. While lifting the top, carefully feed the control panel through the opening below it and finish taking the cover off. If the top doesn't come off easily, you may have to remove the "oven" walls by carefully prying up the top lip. If you get stuck the seal around the outside of it can be removed as well with the use of a small screwdriver or a utility knife.
There you now have the cover off and you can have fun working on the innards of the machine.
One problem area I discovered is the main drive belt. You may want to check that if the machine suddenly stops running and you think the motor is fried. The problem is the pulley on the motor shaft can slide up towards the motor causing the belt to slide off.

Reassembly is simply the reverse of of the above procedure.

I hope this guide has helped and good luck repairing your machine.

How to change glass for iphone

Go to to look at the detailed instructions. You will need a special pentalobe screwdriver for the bottom two screws (if it's an iPhone 4, 4S, 5, or 5S). The back is very easy to change, pop two screws, slide the back glass down, pop the new one in. The front glass with LCD panel is much more involved.

How do you set the time on a J12 Chanel watch

J12 models are quite simply to operate. Pull the crown and set the time. If there is a screw down crown, unscrew it first and then pull.

I cant unscrew those little screws in the bottom of my iphone 3GS! ive tried the smallest screwdriver i have, and sharp knives.. why wont they budge!!!

You normally need special screwdrivers, apple have a habit of replacing normal screws with special 'Flower' screws. You should have a look on ebay, normally you can buy the right screwdriver for about £3, the only issue with this is opening an iPhone invalidates any warranty and they can tell...

Regrding Olympus Stylus 500.. When turned on the lens cover opens half way twice then closes with a green flashing light and beeping sound.

Have just solved similar problem with mine. Problem turned out to be that the lens cover was very slightly dented in. It didn't really look dented at all, but just wasn't quite symmetrical and was a bit more recessed on the side away from the shutter button. This was causing it to rub on the case when it tried to slide. (Mine had been not sliding completely shut for a while before it stopped opening properly too).

To fix it I undid two small cross head screws which let the front panel be prised off. On mine, with the front panel off, the lens and lens cover mechanism all worked perfectly, as the problem was that the lens cover was rubbing on the front panel. If yours is still broken with the front panel removed, then your problem is not the same as mine...

I used a small screwdriver to push out the metal bar on which the top of the lens cover slides, pushing on the right hand end of the bar to slide it left and out through the USB connector compartment door. That lets the top of the cover come off the bar and move freely. To take the cover off, it has to be detached from the arm which moves it. There is a pivot trapped in a slot in the arm, but once the cover is off the bar at the top, it can be moved down so that the pivot reaches the bigger hole at the bottom end of the slot in the arm. This lets the whole lens cover come off the camera.

I then used a screwdriver to gently push out the middle of the cover until its shape was more symmetrical. (I'm not sure a screwdriver was ideal for this, as there are now tiny lumps in the cover where I was pushing it).

Putting it back together was the reverse of taking it apart, although you can test whether it's fixed or not before doing up the screws holding the front panel on.

On my babyliss type S47b, special screwdriver???

The screw may be triangular, or Torx (star pattern), or even 'pin-in-Torx', which all require special tools. They do it to prevent people from opening them up. But you can buy the tools, and for triangular screws I ground an old screwdriver down to match the shape!

Those screws are called 'Tamper Proof' or 'Tamper Resistant'. If you google those you'll find tool sets that will open dang near anything.

Do I need special tools to remove the driver door panel? The power controls have some how came loose and need to be fixed.

You'll just need a philips screwdriver and something flat to for prying... there'll be some screws along the bottom of the door panel and some along the the side of the door near the latch. There's be a screw somewhere along your armrest / pull arm and a screw close to the door handle... once all the screws are off, you'll just need to pry gently to pop out some clips and the panel will come right out....

Snowflake pattern on print jobs

I would suggest taking a can of air and spraying the reflective glass that is under the scanner assembly front area. You will need to remove the top cover (three screws: one in front and two in back. Once screws out, open manual feed tray, then take a flat blade screwdriver to release two clips at top front of cover.). You must toggle the toner cartridge lever (metal piece that sits just to the left of the scanner assembly) and then spray up under the scanner front area). Also, I would replace the Transfer Roller. When you remove the toner, you will see a black roller that sits just under where the toner normally positions at the bottom.
