Hi, I have a Rheem thermostat and I can't get it heat. The pilot light is on but even if I put the heat knob to the highest, the main light does not come on. I replaced the thermocouple with a brand new one, got the pilot light on again but the main does not come up. any ideas?

yes, I connected thermocouple correctly. Otherwise pilot light wouldn't stay lit after I released the pilot button. What is the right category for thermostats?

Check the thermostat and on the inside area of the thermostat there is a trow switch that has "E" and a "G" on it. This stands for electric heat or gas heat You need to make sure the switch is set for gas since the heat is operated by gas. If the thermostat doesn't have those settings you may need to get a thermostat that has those settings to insure proper working of the system. Good luck on your repairs hope this helped

Title sounds like a quote from Martin Luthor King!

To make matters worse It's under SEWING MACHINES and I am sure they dont have a pilot light!

Did you wire the thermocouple up correctly? all wires are on firmly no corrosion on the joiners?

Where do I find the red button for an O'Keefe and Merritt stove?

Usually hidden in a side compartment or under the cooktop, it's a valve with a red button which the other end of the thermocouple is attached to. Hold the red button down and light the pilot. Once the pilot lights, hold the button in while the pilot warms up the thermocouple to hold the valve open and allow gas to the main burners. A very nice looking range. Many of the operational parts are shared with the commercial ranges still in service.

Need to put bobin in a merritt 4530

Flip the presser switch up to raise the presser foot. Turn the hand wheel counterclockwise until the needle is in its highest position.
  • 2Hold the hand wheel in place with your left hand while turning the hand wheel knob counterclockwise with your right hand to loosen the hand wheel knob.
  • 3Place the desired spool of thread on the spool pin so that the pin fits all the way through the hole in the center of the spool. Put the spool holder onto the end of the spool pin that is sticking through the spool of thread and press firmly to ensure that the spool holder keeps the spool in place.
  • 4Grasp the end of the thread and hold it taut between the thumb and index fingers of both hands. Snap the taut section of thread into the thread guide post located to the left of the spool pin.
  • 5Pull the end of the thread gently. Wrap the thread around the bobbin winder tension disk near the left front on top of the machine, starting at the side of the tension disk facing you and wrapping around in a clockwise direction.
  • 6Poke the end of the thread through the small hole in the bobbin from the inside out so that the loose end of the thread sticks through the top of the bobbin. Put the bobbin on the spindle, or bobbin winder, and gently slide the bobbin winder to the right.
  • 7Hold the loose end of the thread in place while pressing down on the foot pedal to start the machine. Hold the foot pedal down until the bobbin is as full as desired. The machine will automatically stop once the bobbin has reached capacity.
  • 8Cut the loose end of the thread using scissors. Slide the bobbin winder to the left and remove the bobbin. Hold the hand wheel in your left hand and tighten the hand wheel knob with your right hand by turning it clockwise

VX808/Vx809. When put pressure on foot control stop motion contro doesn't move.

I would suggest that the machine needs to be serviced to find out why it not responding the way it should.

Hi! i was just gifted w/ a kenmore sewing machine model # 12121 i havent even plugged it in yet. I noticed that the top thread tension control knob has fallen off. it appears to have all its pieces, but i...

Open the left end door that accesses the light. On the edge of the casting by the tension control, you'll see a set screw tapped into the hole that the upper tension control fits into. That set screw locks the tension unit into the casing. If the upper tension unit is in peices, you'll need a diagram to re-assemble it correctly. If you don't assemble it correctly, it will NOT work right.

Hi, I'm trying to sew a silky fabric and the stitches on the bottom keep getting jumbled and the top thread breaks

My guess is that you have lost all of your upper tension and you may have your needle in backward.
    Unthread the machine.
Raise the presser foot. Turn the handwheel until the take-up lever is at it's highest position. Set the upper tension dial/knob to 5. Remove the needle and replace it making sure that the flat side of the needle shank is to the back. Thread the machine.
With the presser foot up, the upper thread should pull through easily and then grab when the presser foot is lowered.
    Test sew.
The upper tension pulls the stitches up and the lower tension pulls the stitches down. When they pull properly, the stitch is even.

Don't know how to thread the juki mo-735 serger

This video starts off a little ****, but expected if you have ever visited the Threadbanger site - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1462325/how_to_use_a_serger_indie_pendent_designer_spotlight_thread_he/ Not your brand, but the same "serger basics". Lift the antenna to it's highest position. Set the tensions to zero. Have the presser foot up when threading. Raise the upper looper to it's highest position. Sergers are great little machines, but they can be nerve racking when it comes to threading. After years of threatening my old FunLock, I bought a Babylock Imagine with air-jet threading - what a relief!

Inspiration 4205 stitch length won't change

Are you certain that the pattern selector is set for straight stitch and not buttonhole?

Turn the handwheel so that the needle is up and the take-up lever is in it's highest position. Then turn the pattern selector knob through all of the patterns back and forth a few times. Finally, select straight stitch and see if the length works. If not, need to take it to a repair person to determine the course of action.
