Generic problem for all PC Laptops

Hi,

this model came with windows 98. I have upgraded to windows ME with a view to using broadband AOL. I have loaded the router driver and AOL 9.0 on to the laptop but the ethernet port on this model does not appear to be connecting with the router. Any advice much appreciated.

Researching your specific machine the ethernet network adapter had at least 5 versions of driver for Windows 98. Only Windows ME driver listed is also the latest version of the Windows 98 drivers. If your drivers were not up to date it is quite possible that your ethernet NIC may need the driver update at this link Presario Notebooks Conexant Combo - Modem/NIC Driver for Windows ME
