Re: Changing my Belt

There should be 2 or 3 screw on the top housing, if not there, then they are on the bottom. Remove those screws, then the top housing comes off and the belt and brushroll are in the open.Part # 61120A long life belt. Brush roll #62365-2 if needed.

"Eureka - Pet Expert HEPA Bagless Upright Vacuum - Mystic Purple" is BRAND new and burning! I literally had soot on my hand and up my nose and mouth after using it just now. I've only had it for 24 hours....

Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and the drive belt is burning up.
Check your directions on changing the drive belt for the beater brush. When you remove the beater brush, clean as best you can. At each end of the beater brush you will find a plastic clip. These clips hold the beater brush in the vacuum. Add some WD40 between the brush and the clips. Turn the clips by hand and be sure they turn freely. Reassemble and at the same time, put on a new drive belt.
If this solution is of help to you, please take the time to add a Thumbs Up to my profile for the assistance. Thank you. Paul

While vacuuming a rug on high (carpet setting) the power suddenly decreased. Now it will only run with low power, not picking up items on carpet

It sounds like you burned the belt. Turn the unit over, remove the cover plate where you see the brushes. On the side of the brush roller is where the belt is located. The belt should be very tight on the roller. Also, you may see little black rubber pieces stuck to the area where the end of the roller is or in the part where the belt runs. Get your owners manual out and read how to change the belt. I'll bet when you ran over the carpet it hung on some of the nap and hung the brush roller up for a second or so. That's all it takes sometimes to fry the belt on some vacumes. Sometimes new vacumes come with a new belt. Look in the bag or box and install it.

Changeing belt

On the top nozzle, there will usually is 2 screws holding the top done. There are slots or holes on each side near the front and the screws or in these holes. Remove them, remove the top cover and then you can get to the brush roll and belt.
