To reset a Kenwood 8070 receiver without a remote, you typically need to locate the reset button on the device itself. This button is often small and recessed, so you may need a paperclip or a similar tool to press it. Consult the user manual or look for the reset button near the power or input/output ports on the receiver. Once located, press and hold the reset button for a few seconds until you see the receiver reset. Keep in mind that this process may vary slightly depending on the specific model of the Kenwood 8070 receiver.
usually on the front of the stereo unit theres a pin hole button that can only be pushed with a sharp pencil or a paper clip if you cant' find its location try search Kenwood website to locate the pinhole reset buttons location on thst units model number. Once you find it and engage it you should hear its' internal mechanics move around and it should be completely reset and possibly work.

This is a video if you dont know how to reset a kenwood bt648u or any o... ... I was in dark ... what happened to ...
you have to go to the kenwood site and download the firmware update go to this page http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2008/eng.html
after you download the file unzip it and burn it with either nero or roxio, as a data file insert the cd on your kvt-512, if it reads DISK ERROR, press the reset button on the front of the stereo, once the screen comes back up select the DVD function, the system update should start from there. let it finish once it does then you'll be able to plug in your ipod. oh and ofcourse for this you should know that you need the ipod adapter, depending on what you want to do with it for instance i have the KCA-iP300V which allows me to view videos from my ipod as well.
behind the face plate there is a little recessed reset button. push it using the tip of a pen or similar. that will fully reset the radio to like it was when you bought it.
Some times head units hicup. this is how you reset it. In most error cases this solves the problem.
make sure there is no dirt between the metal connections. on my kenwood, excessive removal of the faceplate caused a little dirt build up...check this and itll probably solve your problem
one of your speaker wires to the internal amp is shorted. turn power off and make sure they are not touching metal or each other and then hit reset again. if this doesn't help your power ic may be fried inside the stereo or a speaker is shorted.
