Question about Liebherr KB4250 Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a new lieherr refrig with freezer on the bottom. was told have separate motors. no drainage bin. water collecting under plastic bins and onto floor - while we were home. (not collecting when we were away), probably has to do with use and temp of foods being stored. I think the little black(gasp - with mold) hole in the bottom left third of frig unit may be plugged to get to that pan where someone mentioned an evaporator fan. what is the best way to unplug - sounds like threading a tube with a syringe might work. Couldn't wire scratch? How strong should the clorox be? Thank you.

in the pan on bottom of fridge there is a drain most likely clogged with the black mold...i had the same thing. use 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/2 cup water and use a turkey baster and put that though the drain. I also used some mold and mildew cleaner with bleach around it, used q-tips to get to tough parts and something to actually stick down the hole to try to dig up any gunky mold. (pipe cleaners, toothpicks) I suppose this vinegar solution should be used on some kind of schedule...I plan to do it once a week from now on.

I have a Whirlpool refrig./freezer. I have no problem with the ice dropping in the bucket, but when I try to dispense it under the chute,it wil not dispense. The water works fine. This is a side side ...

Sometimes the ice will collect, melt, and freeze into a giant headache. If you have the one where you can get ice out of the holding bin inside the freezer, see if the ice bin will come apart from the rest of the dispenser. If it doesn't come easily, get as much ice out of the bin, get a wet vac ready and pour warm water on the ice. It will run through the dispenser. Once things come apart easily, you can take it over to sink and get rid of the ice blockage with warm water, let it dry, reinstall, and check to see if it works. Hope this helps.

Water Running in Refrigerator from Freezer

Water collects in bottom of refrigerator under fruit/vegetable bins

When a fridge goes in to defrost it melts the ice on the coils in the interior of the freezer. Often times there is a drain that runs to a sliding tray under the fridge. If this is clogged you will get water building up under the bins.

Water runs under the vegetable bins

There should be a collecting channel with a hole and a tube reaching down to somewhere above the cooling compressor (Back of unit) where it should evaporate with the heat.
Most people never clean that hole and tube simply because they do not know what is for or the manual is silent. Sometime can be jammed with little icecube. I us thick plastic line from toy to clean, electrical wire with copper core not naked is also oke. Do not put wild force. This is the cooler part. The deep freezer part needs defrosting on temporarily basis and for that you need some small low bin to start collecting or keep on mobbing the floor.

Ice maker is dripping into ice bin after water refills?

I had this problem on my refrigerator. I talked to a service tech at the local appliance dealer and here's what he said. There is a valve at the back of the refrigerator (mine is a side by side, but the basics are the same When the Ice maker goes thru it cycle, a part of that cycle is to turn on the water to fill the ice tray, then the next portion of that cycle is to turn off the water. What is happening is that the valve is getting the signal to close but due to mineral build up on the valve surface it is not able to completely shut off.
The solution is to replace the valve. This is not difficult. Turn off the water to the refrig. It's usually runs under the cabinets to the sink and you can see a plastic hose under there with a small handle you can turn to shut it off. Pull the refrig out so you can get to the back and you will see the valve. It will be connected to the same hose that is under the sink Remove and replace the valve. make sure all the little hose fittings are tight. Turn on the water under the sink and check for leaks.

Hope this helps PS you can get a new valve at most any appliance dealer.

Good luck Loringh
