SOURCE: Problem with Casio FX 260 Calculator

Read the screen capture about the MODES of this calculators. DEG,RAD, and GRAD remind the user that the angle units in trigonometric function calculations and coordinate conversions are in degrees, radians or grads. They have nothing to do with the other calculations you are doing.

874c328.jpg

You can only remove DEG by changing the angle unit to RADians or GRADs. In so doing, the new unit indicator (RAD, GRAD) will be displayed instead. There is no point worrying about the angle unit indicator unless you are performing coordinate conversions or calculating trigonometric functions or the inverse trigonometric functions.

MODE 9 cancels the FIX display format: decimal are displayed with a fixed number of decimal places (set by the user). After this key sequence the decimal display format reverts to NORM(al).

Ho do I get DEG off of my calculator

Change to a different angular mode. Press the DRG key, use the left/right arrow to select the desired mode, then press ENTER twice.

Be aware that whatever angular mode you select, the display will show either "DEG", "RAD", or "GRAD" to indicate the mode.

On my TI 30 XA, I can not get it out of Degree mode.

Why do you want to get out od Degree mode. If you are doing trigonometric calculations, the angle unit is pertinent. If you are not doing trigonometry, it is irrelevant. You say you can cycle through DEG, RAD, GRAD. That is the way to set the angle unit.
However, there will always be an indicator on the screen (DEG, RAD, or GRAD).

My HP-12B calculator is in grad mode I need to be in deg, how do I change ?

Is there a button marked DEG->? That is the standard calculator button used to change mode. It could possibly be the shift function of another button.

How to switch from the decimal degree to degrees, minutes, seconds

Keys 1. I displays the following menu that lets you change the angle mode setting to DEG, RAD, and GRD without affecting the value in the display. DEG Sets degree mode. RAD Sets radian mode. GRD Sets gradient mode. The default setting is DEG. 2. = displays a menu that lets you specify the unit of an angle. º Specifies degrees. å Specifies minutes. æ Specifies seconds. r Specifies radians. g Specifies gradients. DMS Lets you convert an angle from decimal degrees to DMS notation. Notes · The examples on the transparency masters assume all default settings. · Angles with a trig function ignore the angle mode setting and display results in the original unit. Otherwise, angles (without a trig function) are converted and displayed according to the angle mode setting. · You enter decimal-degree angles the same as you would any other number. · For decimal/DMS conversions, the calculator interprets all values as degrees, regardless of the angle-unit setting. · DMS angles are entered as º (degrees), ´ (minutes), and ´´ (seconds You watched 2 videos that were 2:05 (2 hours and 5 minutes) and 1:46 (1 hour and 46 minutes) in length. DEG mode

The DEG indicator has absolutely nothing to do with division, fraction or other operations. It is relevant only when you are calculating trigonometric functions (Sine, Cosine Tangent and their inverse functions.)

When you are calculating trigonometric functions the results depend on the angle unit the calculator is configured for
DEG >> angle values are in degrees.
RAD>> angle value are in radians

From the equivalence 180 deg =Pi radians you get
1 rad= 180deg/Pi=180 deg/3.14..=57.29577951 degrees.

The DEG indicator merely reminds you that angles are in DEG. If you change the unit to RADians the RAD indicator will be displayed instread.

Changing the mode in a casio

Hi,
To change the default angle unit, you press the [MODE] button a certain number of times until display shows a rectangle inside which Deg Rad Grad appear on the top line and 1 2 3 on bottom line, with 1 under Deg, 2 under Rad, and 3 under Grad.
Press the number key corresponding to your case, 1. All angle values you feed the trigonometric functions will be considered to be in degrees. If you use the inverse trigonometric functions to find angles, the results will be in degrees.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa and do not forget to rate this free solution.

FIX/Mode problem?

I do not think that the DEG and FIX indicators are preventing you from calculating any logarithm. DEG appears to remind you that the CURRENT angle unit is the degree. You can change it to RAD or GRAD if you have to use those units. However, DEG will disappear only if replaced with RAD or GRAD.

The indicator FIX reminds you that the display mode for the results is the FIXed mode, not the SCIentific mode. In the FIX mode you specify the number of decimal digits from 0 to 9 and all your results will show the set number of decimals. So if all your results have a lot of unnecessary 0, maybe you should set the FIX mode to fewer decimal digits.

If you still have a problem with the calculation of logarithms, maybe the syntax you use is incorrect.

Try number then log
If that does not work
try log then number.
