Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have 46" Sharp LC-46D64U and the HDMI/component inputs do not work. I hooked up the Blue Ray to the 3 HDMI inputs....the TV recognized that there was something connected and changed to the appropriate input but no picture or sound. Then I connected the Blue Ray via the Red, White and Yellow cables....and there is a picture and sound. The antenna/cable input works. Then I connected the Wii via the component cables(blue, green and red) along with the audio White and Red, there is sound but there is no picture.

I don't have any warranty and I know it's not a faulty hdmi cable

  • stevekim1105 Sep 27, 2009

I tried resetting the tv back into default factory settings and nothing worked.
Also, there are 3 HDMI inputs on my TV - one on the side and two in the back. All 3 do not work. Additionally, the component inputs in the back do not show video. Thus, I think the possibility of a bad HDMI input is unlikely.

Is the main board same as the control board? I'm trying to find out what part(s) to order

  • stevekim1105 Sep 27, 2009

I haven't opened up the TV yet but I did order this part (assuming it's the correct control board)
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

Also, I searched "main board" for my tv model on ebay and the 2nd picture you sent came up...
Should I just go ahead and order one of those too just in case?

    Hi,
I got the PC Board and installed it - there is picture and sound with HDMI and components however....
-When I connected my xbox via components, the colors were all off and there were lines across the screen anytime there was movement on the screen (ie while playing the game or when selecting thru menu etc) and there was some cracking in the audio but I'm guessing that might have been bad component connection?
-When I connected the same xbox with HDMI, the picture and sound was fine but the tv screen had 2 different contrast split down the middle of the screen. Left side was more faded looking and right side looked more saturated. Would this be due to a bad PC board that I ordered or is it something else?

-Lastly, when I compared my old PC board to the new (used) one that I bought, it looked a little bit different. The old one had a computer chip looking thing in places that the new one didn't have - I'm assuming it's for same tv but different version?

Should I go ahead and return the PC board and get a new one?

    Hi,
Just to clarify.. I'm looking at this website and they have 3
different main boards for the same TV. This is the one I have in my tv
    right now
    http://www.shopjimmy.com/sharp-duntke207...
This is the one that I ordered
    http://www.shopjimmy.com/sharp-duntke558...
The second one says it's compatible with my model tv (46d64u) so shouldn't it work without any problems?
    What is the difference?

Thanks so much for your help

First try to reset TV for factory default settings.
If that does not help then TV needs main board replacement that has HDMI inputs mounted.
Let me know the result of TV reset to provide you more info about main board.
Thanks.

Main board is basically control board of TV. Please check below 2 boards image and confirm what board your TV has inside...

I would suggest to take off back cover of TV, take pictures of all boards and post here (image size up to 150k supported) so I can point out what is main board that your TV requires to be replaced.
Without that info you may spend money on some unwanted/ useless boards.
    Thanks.

And the your posted picture is LCD Controller Board (T-Con) that has no connection with non functional inputs like HDMI, Component Video etc.
T-Con board is related with image in LCD and that you have in TV through cable.
    Thanks.

Yes, if board looks different then return it and provide them picture of original board of TV to get same replacement board.
That is correct that supplied board would be for similar but different version TV so ask them for same original board that is installed in TV to avoid these little problems.
    Thanks.

    http://www.shopjimmy.com/sharp-duntke207...
This board was in your TV and it is also available so please order this board.

Other board [http://www.shopjimmy.com/sharp-duntke558... ] is missing few ICs at right side of heat sink that means it does not have some features as compare to your TV features. There is no schematics available for that board so can not check these ICs function.

So order that board that is exactly same with original board in TV to avoid any technical problem.
    Thanks.

It seems you are having problems with the video (Blue) on the HMDI inputs. If your TV is still under warrenty, take it in and have them fix it. If you want to repair it yourself then let me know.

Thank you for the oppertunity to help you.

It will work just fine. One is same as the original (DUNTKE207FM01S) and the other is the replacement part or newer model of the same product (DUNTKE558FM01S), that is what you are gettting.

Very good question, I am glad you asked that. Other members will see your question and the answer, it may help them.

Please feel free to ask if you have any other question.

Television is not recognizing HDMI inputs

there is a possibility that there might have been a power surge sent over hdmi into the hdmi board on the tv. if on your model the hdmi board is seperate from the sine board then youll have a cheap replacement if not its gonna cost you roughly 300-400 is my guess.

Sharp Aquos 46" HDMI problem

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?

My Sharp Aquos 46" LCD

Digital inputs on Aquos TV's are "always on," usually the HDMI inputs and DVI inputs. As opposed to analog inputs 1, 2, or 3, are only activated once something is plugged in.
Try plugging in another HDMI sources into input4 or 5, if its still not working, the TV needs a new Main Board. Try calling Sharp 1-800-237-4277 and locating a local service center in your area.
