Dark picture The picture is dark and I have opened the unit and clean dust out of the inside. I have used the suggested cleaning solution on the screen, but I end up with sharper dark image. I increased the color and contrast to maximum, but dark colors/objects on the screen are black. Are the bulbs the issue? What causes the brightness to diminish? TV is over 10 years old and has been taken care of.

How can I clean out the inside of my lense?

dont worry about dust too much unless it actually affects your image sensor.check it by pointing to a white wall or sky with f put to it maximum like 32/22 , focus and take pictures.. if its problem with the lens then it will make prominent dark speckles on the image.. but if you get dark speckles even at lower f - stops like 1.4/3.5/5.6 then its dust in the sensor.

dont try cleaning your sensor yourself as you may spoil it and finally have to refer a service center of the brand .

Picture problems

Two things to look at from rear with back off: one is the inside of the screen and or the large mirror in rear of unit--do not touch mirror.

second is the unit has a small lens (2-3 inches) the points up towards the mirror---dust or such on it will cause this--it can be cleaned with a lens cloth.

If the mirror has this (uncommon) the entire front of set would have to be removed (screen units) and that is not real easy.

If lens and mirror and screen are ok problem is INSIDE the optical unit that the lens is part of---on rare occasions that can be cleaned out with compressed air.

without seeing a photo of what it looks like this is all I can suggest.

Hiyour unit has dust a particle in front of image sensor surface (ccd unit). you or someone else must had used to clean front of lens or side of barrel caused the particle got in. In order to remove that it need some sort of complete disassemble require. I recommend to bring your local repair shop. They would charge around $35 to 115 depend on what they want to charge.

My unit seems to work fine, except there is a dark shadow covering the right third of the projected image. Is this a sign that the bulb is going out?

this is the light tunnel needing to be adjusted or replaced because is has collasped due to the heat given off by the lamp during the life of the projector.

Copier prints dark on lightest setting

this could be down to several thisngs lift the lid on the top and look at the glass area does the underside look clean or dirty? have a look at the scanner area to see if there is dust ont the mirrors you should see this when you do a test copy press the print button and look at the light unit and the mirrors as they move across the glass if you can see dust or dirt on the mirrors they may require cleaning.. if so turn the machine off take out the screws holding the glass in place lift the glass out carefully.. sometimes they stick down if they havent been cleaned lately so pull up.. take a clean dust cloth slide the scanner unit out for access and clean of the mirrors.. p[ut back together and test if no better open the fornt door and look at the units inside to see if you can take them out..give these a check to see if there are marks on the surfaces of the units.. if the copies are dark usually on a old copier its down to the dust..

The Print has white stripes

White stripes are caused by dust and toner powder on the scanner window, which is situated in the bottom of the printer, under the drum unit. Open the printer, remove the drum unit and using a soft cloth with a little meths wipe the window clean of toner and dust. It's quite dark inside the printer, so use a torch to find the glass panel (only about 10mm deep x the width of the drum).

Video and images too dark

You can try this. Open the cover (Unplug the monitor and leave at least for 30 minutes before doing this). See whether dust is there. If there is dust, get a 1" paint brush and gently remove the dust with the brush. Always sweep the dust away from the unit. If black dust is present around certain cables and around the flyback transformer (that black box covered with aluminium plates), use a soft cloth to wipe them (do not wet the cloth). *Make sure you dont turn those rings on the back of the tube while wiping the the dust. After cleaning the dust, replace the cover, connect it to the PC and check. You will have a brighter picture!

Picture getting dark

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.
