Re: UMDs collapse

Contact a) the store where you bought them and / or b) the game publishers directly to arrange replacements. If it's not due to mis-use they should offer to replace the discs for a small shipping fee.

Why wont my psp play umds

This is a problem occurring in all the psp consoles....... this is mainly because of the poor quality of the disc, a result it leads to the damage of ur PSP lens..............use good original discs........the heating effect is due to the long usage of pirated discs ...
check your lens if its working good then better download this Repair Guide for further information .........

My psp will not let me play games or watch films. the UMD sign does not come up on the screen. i can hear the disc making starting up noises. do you know what it could be?

Perhaps something is wrong with the reader or the carriage that its placed in. If this happens with all of your UMDs then i doubt its just the UMD. Try calling Playstation customer support and see if they can help you.

Why do my UMDs not work?

Look the UMD disc drive to see if anything could be interfering with the Hard to see little white gear.  It is toward the back and underneath.  If you used Alcohol to Clean the laser, you could have damaged or melted the lens of the laser. Alcohol cleaning on PS2 lasers was prescribed for the Phat big Versions of PS2 only.  Sony Lowered the quality from Glass lens to Plastic lens since the slim model.  I think the PS3 has a Glass lens though. If you did clean it with Alcohol, I suggest finding a Repair specialist to replace your UMD Drive. If you live in the USA, I can replace your UMD disc drive for $53 including Return shipping, and giving you a 90 day warranty.

is it a scratching scrapping noise?

as some UMD cases, as in the plastic thing around the disc colapse or come apart this stops the disc spinning properly.

Check the plastic on the UMD... click any sides together that may be loose / or make sure the case isnt pushing on the disc.

Also open the PSP, hold it upside, gently shake it & blow into it.

Put the UMD back in & try again.
