Question about Televison & Video

I hookup my JCV DVD/VCR Player and it does not work. 1) I hook it to my cable box and it does not work. 2) I also hook it to the TV and it does not work. It will come on, but will not interface with the TV. I guess that I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is.

When I turn the DVD/VCR on the message on the DVD/VCR says "HELLO" after that I can not enter anything. How do I put the DVD/VCR on the Ch ans the TV?

  • misterl853 Sep 24, 2009

There are no switchs on the back of the DVD/VCR. I looked over the whole DVD/VCR and see no where there is a switch to select ch 3 or ch4.

Thanks for using FixYa. Try to reset the unit by following the mentioned procedure. Try and Unplug unit, hold the open/close and play button down while replacing the plug. Test JC3 will appear in the display. Release the buttons and press the 3D Phonic button and 9600 should appear in small numbers under the Test JC3. Turn the power off and back on. Also, try and use HDMI Cables and check if it works.

You can reset the Recorder as follows:

    • Press and hold the STANDBY/ON button for more than five seconds. This will force the Recorder to power off. Press the STANDBY/ON button again to turn the Recorder back on.
    • Unplug the power cord and then plug the power cord again after more than five seconds.

Make sure you have it hooked up correctly look on DVD/VCR do you have it on ch 3 or 4 and put TV on which ever one player is on.In other words if TV is on ch3 put player on3. Make sure you have both input and output right/ input is for signal coming from cable output is going to TV .

Some like a VCR on the back where the IF cable connectors are you will see a switch to use either channel 3 or channel 4 to use for the VCR to play on, put a VCR Tape in press play then try ch3 on TV see if movie is playing. If you have sound and no picture then the heads on VCR needs cleaning, and if you put a Disk in and it says No Disk laser beam needs cleaning.

5 Easy Ways to Hook Up a DVD Player (with Pictures)

Hitachi DV-PF 2U dvd player works fine when hooked directy to TV (channel 3) but won't work when connected through the new COX digital cable box. TV is set to channel 4, dvd player turned on, disc...

If the cable box needs to be set to 4, the TV will need to be set to 4 as well as the dvd player. The hookup should be cable box to dvd player to the TV for your system to work. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Have an RCA F27636BC TV. Can u hook a DVD player

How to hookup TV

If you have a TV with only a single coax input and you want to hook up components like DVD players and VCRs, here's how to do it.

What you need to connect your DVD player or game players to a TV that only has a VHF/UHF 75-ohm F-connector ("coax antenna input").

1.) RF Modulator with Stereo Audio Inputs.

2.) 6 foot long coaxial cable with male "F" connectors. This cable goes from the modulator to the TV. The modulator also has a coaxial input to plug in your antenna or your VCR.

3.) 6 foot long Video and Audio Cables with "RCA" plugs. The cables connect the yellow, red and white outputs from your DVD or game player to the yellow, red and white inputs of the modulator.

Works with X-Box, PlayStation, Nintendo or other devices that output audio/video via the RCA plugs and you want to connect them to your coaxial only TV.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to www.google.com and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck

Just hook your antenna or whatever wire you have currently connected to the TV to the input on the new recorder, and you'll be to record anything you can watch now.

Do you have the red, white and yellow hookups on the back of your TV????? If you don't then you need to get an RF Modulator. You can buy one at Walmart. Older TVs don't have the red, white and yellow hookups. You hook up the RF modulator with a short cable to the cable outlet on your TV. Then you plug in your DVD player to the RF modulator. You also plug your cable for the TV into the RF modulator. It really is very simple. Directions are included with the RF modulator. You will need a short piece of cable also.

Yes coming in her VCR with Cable or ant, if she has satellite it would be different. Going out to tv from VCR. Then in is Input the Out is Output. RF cable connection or A/V inputs(jacks) either one same way of hookup.
