How do I get rid of terrible crackling when playing back?

Simply put: you can't. There are audio programs out there that can help reduce the crackling / noise, but it will never be perfect; the cure might be worse than the ill.

A techn-savy person could have a try at it; lot's and lot's of time required, or - but could be expensive - you could contact a sound-technician and have a pro give it a try.

Your TV has a pair of analog RCA Audio Outputs on the back of the set. They are the red and white, female, round outputs and should be labelled as Audio Out. If you have a surround receiver or stereo that accepts this type of input (most do), then you would purchase a stereo RCA audio cable that has the red and white male ends on both ends of the cable and plug them in to the appropriate stereo RCA left and right channel audio inputs on your receiver and the aforementioned outputs on your TV. The same is true if you have a pair of self-powered computer speakers (or similar). If your external speakers or audio systems don't have the RCA inputs, you may need to get an adapter to convert the RCA output to stereo mini-jack (or similar) to match the appropriate input on your external speakers. Does that make sense?

Sigmac NE32AB1 Sound Distorted

Interference. Separate wiring in back, so there is no cross-talk of signals. If speakers are failing, go to walmart and buy a new set, <$20.00, hook up and sound is great.

Try vith headphones or audio out on the scart .
Try with audio standard in menu options.
try with signal on scart or hdmi input with other source of signal like dvd or cabel recivers.
If there are no sound after this you have to check-replace the audio section in your tv.

suziglantz, A good TECHNICIAN should be able to pinpoint where the problem is. I suspect that as long as the unit has perfect pic and sound when it IS ON, there should be no problem for a tech to find a thermally intermittant solder joint inside the unit on some printed circuit board. Most likely place to look first would be the Power Supply board. They are called "switch-mode-power-supplys" SMPS for short. Here is what I think. Parts are soldered to the printed circuit boards at the factory. But over time the unit is subjected to large changes in temperature. You do this every time you turn "on/OFF the unit. Let's see here, 360 days x 1 ON and one OFF x 6yrs will be approx 2000 cold to hot cycles. I would think that this would not happen for at least 4000 cycles. Again, a tech type person will need to find the poorly soldered component and or the SOLID STATE component which has a thermal intermittant problem. That's about all I can recomend at this time. Do some research on the web and you will find all types of info on temperature related failures of electronic devices. Please rate this response on fixya if you feel it has been of any help to you. HP mx703 monitor does not power on; ticking noise

It seems that the transformer of the monitor has gone bad, as it makes a click sound. The cable could be the one which gets connect to the picture tube, or just for earthing.

Plugged in a new 23 inch LG LCD Monitor and cannot get picture

In additio to the fine help given by Mister.

If you have a DVI output on your computer get the cable for that and this will greatly increase the quality of your display.

Your graphics card should be able to autodetect a DVI monitor and suggest the best display type.
