The oven heats up but stops a 200 degress

Good Afternoon Ben,

I see that you are having trouble with your dual fuel range, model# PLCF489AC, heating up past 200 degrees. It sounds like it could possibly be something to do with your control board or your oven thermostat. I suggest giving your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by either unplugging it or cutting the power off at the circuit breaker for at least 2-3 minutes. When power is restored to your range, if it still will not heat up past 200 degrees, I suggest you contact your local authorized technician. I hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Oven not working properly

Do you mean 200 degrees Celcius or Farenheit? If Farenheit then the most likely culprit would be the thermocouple in the oven which can usually be replaced relatively easily by someone mechanically minded, if Celsius then you should suspect the elements although a working broiler would suggest that there is at least one element that works fine. Maytag says; "Why won't the oven heat up? First, make sure you've properly set all the oven controls. Check your user's guide for more information on your model's controls.(see below for the link to the manual if you need it) If your range offers the option of a delayed oven start, check to see if it's been selected. If so, the oven won't begin to heat until the selected time. If your oven has a lockout feature, check to see if it's been selected. If so, it will prevent you from using the oven. If your oven still won't operate, please contact an authorized Maytag service provider for more assistance." Here is the link to the manual; and here is the link to Maytag Service if you need it - hopefully not; The other possible culprit would be the electrical supply to the oven - it may be adequate for the stovetop or grill but the oven may draw more power than the circuit can handle - even if it was fine before, this can change and may be caused by corrosion, rodents, overloading etc. and may not necessarily trip the breaker switch - if you suspect this at all then get a qualified electrician to check - it shouldn't take long to check so should be cheap, although repairs if necessary may cost more Hope this helps :)

Kenmore plt083-2 won't heat above 200 degrees

Please check that model number again. The one you posted comes up as a refrigerator. Look inside the oven door or the lower drawer.

I own a GE JGBP33BEH5BB and the oven doesn't get hot enough. I've changed the sensor with one from a JGBP30BEA1WH that was working fine when it was removed. (replacements for both are the same part number...

The orange glow is the igniter. Normally, the igniter turns on and begins to glow. As the igniter heats, the change in it's resistance causes it to use more electrical current (amperage). When the amperage level reaches a threshold (let's say 3.2 amps, for an example) the ovens safety gas valve will open because in knows the igniter (using that much electrical current) is hot enough to light the gas. This process usually takes under two minutes. The igniter stays on until the oven reaches the set temp, then it turns off, and the gas valve shuts off very soon after. Then the cycle repeats when the oven thermostat call for heat again after cooling down a bit.
The trouble is, as these igniters get old, they have a harder time reaching that needed amperage threshold to operate properly. You can just swap the broiler igniter with the bake igniter if you wish, as they are the same part number in your model, and the broil is generally used much less, and so should have much more life left. (of course now the broiler and the self clean will not work, until you replace the broiler igniter with a new one.) In rare cases, if you have low line voltage to the range (say 108 volts) that will also cause the same problem, or if you have a poor electrical connection, but those cases are rare, and about 99 percent of the time your problem will be fixed by replacing the oven igniter. (GE part number WB2X9154 for your model)
Sorry to get so long winded. Just replace the oven igniter.

Oven works when it feels like it.

The ignitor is weak and not lighting the oven consistently. Need to replace the ignitor.

heating elements are usually good or failed with nothing between so unlikely to be the element. problem probably lies with the thermostat. to check, bypass the thermostat and check the oven gets really hot.
