Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

We bought a 52" LG flatscreen and slammed a hand-dolly into the front of it while moving our desk. The outside of the TV looks great until you turn it on and the pixels (or whatever they're called) give off a beautiful light show, presumeably because they're shattered. Can it be repaired w/o having to replace the entire TV and if so would it be cost effective to go that route? Terri

This sounds like an insurance job, check with your homeowners agent.
Other wise, I don't think it will be cost effective. The entire screen will need replacing.

Move auto to a dolly to take to shop?

Using an automotive dolly can be risky, If the vehicle is front wheel drive then dolly the front, if it is rear wheel drive then dolly the rear. If it is 4 wheel drive and late model with no neutral shift position dolly the front and remove the rear drive shaft at the rear axle. If the vehicle is older 4 wheel drive with neutral selection for the transfer case then simply shift to neutral and dolly the front axle. Most transmissions whither automatic or manual will be damaged if the engine is not running while the vehicle is in motion.
the engines crankshaft or the transmissions input shaft must turn to lubricate the transmission unless the transmission is automatic and has a rear pump that can lubricate the transmission if the transmissions output shaft is turned in normal rotation for forward direction of travel. This is the only way to to assure there is no damage to the drive train. Be sure to follow all recommended tie down procedures. remember the dolly rotates under the vehicle so one or the other of the wheels must be able to move forward and back to allow for corners. Try to always choose a path that allows forward direction unless you are an expert driver with experience and able to back a farm wagon type axle trailer (like covered wagon) going backward will be a challenge even for someone experienced pulling a bumper pull trailer.
To get the vehicle onto a dolly have some friends help push or use a cable puller to move the vehicle onto the dolly.

Can I turn on the samsung flatscreen without a remote? The remote got water in it and will not work. Does the tv have a power button located on the tv?

Yes, channel buttons, sound buttons and power button is located at the side of the screen. Look for it. For most TV's its located behind and for some at the side and for some in the front bottom.

it's the aerial, tv has nothing to do with channels. it's the signal that carries the channels. i'm pretty sure if you had it hooked up to a cable box, you'll get all the channels, so i'm sure your tv is fine. i would double check on the aerial and positioning the attenna has some factor into it.

The first mistake was the Philips TV. They are the worst tv. They are constantally needed to be updated. If you have warranty, I would recommend you taking it back or calling philips customer service and getting your tv repaired or replaced.

RCA 52" Projection TV P52753AT

On my 52 projection TV P52753AT I found that one of the Kine Sockets burned so it is just a matter of replacing it if I can find one or rebuilding it. And yes that will give it the clicking sound when you turn the TV on. I'm just glad I am a computer tech and I enjoy doing this kind of thing for a living.

DLP TVs work projecting light throught a tube covered with mirrors, called the light tunnel.

The gray shadow it is something in the middle of the light tunnel, probably a mirror that has gone out of place when you moved the TV.
